Hi Guys, I was thinking what can bring a Noir Sectorial? I now ...its high speculative, but have any Lore-Master a guess? What Troops or Characters are in or work with the 0-12 Secret Service? Thanks fpr the Help
If anything it'd be most like a NA2 Army, with a lot of mercenaries and other "deniable assets". That's basically how Bureau Noir operates.
Bueau Noir is the default RPG "organization" for the players (you certainly can make campaigns centered around Haqquislamite agents of different organizations -depends on "when" are you playing-, or Black Hand operatives, or...), and the book asks you to have each one from a different nation because of "hidden agendas". So I would say something akin Defiance: units with AVA 1-2 from different nationalities, possibly a character or two per, and, as CJF said, "deniable assets" (that can also be classified as "whatever you can get in the field on short notice"). I'd say, of currently existing units: Authorized Bounty Hunter, CSU, the usual common mercs (Sforza, Knauf, Le Muet...), several line troopers from different factions (let's say Fusiliers, Wildcats, possibly Halqa) and some elite/veterans (Deva Functionaries, for example). In that way, it should be with "heavy" individual troops, with light and fast, but reliable, recruited help, with those characters all having 2 wounds and being the Krizas, Yan Huos, etc... who should all have, at least, Stealth.
I can imagine how Aegis or, to a degree, Hermes or Trimurti can provide a sectorial army in O-12, but cannot see, how Noir, Toth or Tiandi can.
Always in black and white, trenchcoat always flapping in the wind, even indoors, fascinated by rubik's cubes, voiced by Nic Cage. Wait, that's Spiderman Noir, sorry.
Well, Bureau Aegis has the Statera (lawyers), PSI (intelligence) and SPATHA (the dudes in Wildfire... XD). From the RPG: BUREAU AEGIS: SECONDMENT MISSIONS Gather military intelligence from civilian targets Coordinate on clandestine operations Undercover operations Securing O-12 facilities Bureau Hermes Secondment missions: Investigate sabotage of Human Sphere communications network Reinforce Aegis security operations on Circulars Investigate Circular smuggling Track Combined Army infiltration through jump gates Espionage at trade conferences BUREAU TOTH SECONDMENT • Support tracking operations of rogue AI • Tasked to monitor enigmatic behaviour by ALEPH • Hunting down EI relays • Oversee the investigations on hypercorp violations of the Sole AI Law Bureau Trimurti is the primary support infrastructure for the General Board in coordinating and liaising between O-12’s bureaus (including internal investigations). Their remit also includes diplomacy and international relations — acting as the primary spokesperson for O-12, protecting its public image, and managing its Maya and social media presence. BUREAU TRIMURTI SECONDMENT • Assist on corruption investigations in Edda • Retrieve stolen, confidential O-12 data • Provide covert security for diplomatic conferences • Courier classified information • Monitoring what’s said about O-12 on clandestine infranets
I am pretty sure that the Gangbuster is from Bureau Noir, or, that he is lead by a handler that is from Bureau Noir. Because that is how they work: The Handlers have their Agents in the streets, and only their handlers know their identity, noone else in the bureau, that is how they manage to keep everything secret and denyable. And those Agents can be anyone, from any nation, if he/she just has the right skills for the job. They might not even know that they are working for Bureau Noir. So yes, a lot of mercenaries is quite plausible. Spoiler: From another O-12 speculation thread https://forum.corvusbelli.com/threads/what-will-2019-bring.26476/page-13#post-206243 '=>' is about unit speculation, the bureaus and sections are from the RPG. The O-12 pillars: Unity, Cooperation, Support, and Progress. Bureau Aegis Section Statera (legal branch, lawyers) Section Spatha (O-12 military, tactical police force. If the lawyers from Section Statera can't deal with the problem this “Team Escalation” is send in. => Line Troops as tactical police force (AVA total) => Team Escalation as MI or HI => [Knights of Santiago and Imperial Service secure the Circulars, technically under the jurisdiction of Bureau Aegis] Psi Unit (Military Intelligence, technically part of Section Spatha but with a largely independent chain of command.) => TO Camo Infiltration (FO, KHD, AHD, Minelayer, Smoke) Bureau Agni Section Metis (research and development, working closely with Bureau Toth and ALEPH on experimental technology) => Engineer (Duo with REMs) (AVA 1) => standard REMs (ALEPH) => TAG Bureau Athena Section Clio (chronicler of ancient and recent history, search for truth, religion, ethics, humanism) => Warcor+ (AVA 1) Bureau Lakshmi (human health, medicine) => Doctor+ (AVA 1) Bureau Noir (secret service) => Operative: Impersonation, Sniffer (must have a Handler in Army) => Handler: Counterintelligence (AVA 1) Bureau Toth (supervision, support, and maintenance of ALEPH) => HD+, Jammer, E/M2, Pitcher, FastPanda Bureau Trimurti (support infrastructure, diplomacy and international relations) Bureau Concilium (governmental body) Bureau Gaea (planetary development and biological research) Bureau Ganesh (oversees international trade and economic practices) Bureau Tiandi (mapping and exploration of the wormhole network) Bureau Hermes (management of commerce and the Circulars, inter-system communications)
Bureau Noir is probably going to end up like the Black Hand, Hexahedron, or Yanjing, not represented in the game aside from maybe a unit or two.
If it happens, I expect a lot of vanity publishing. Everyone and their frickin' mother's rpg character.
In what way would that be different to the Characters we are seeing in all the other Factions and Sectorials published recently?
Some definitely have more than others. I honestly don't know if any of the CA characters were bespoke to anyone.
Well, I don't think the Combined Army was ever considered PC playable back when Infinity was a homebrew RPG, so... no.
But there aren't that many bureaus that can plausably participate in any wars or black ops... And especially Bureau Noir predestined to deploy many mercs! After all - what might be possible sectorials? - Bureau Aegis is the military and police force, so probaply the first sectorial. - Bureau Noir with Mercs and maybe finally Camo und maybe even Impersonators. - Bureau Toth with lots of hackers and ALEPG troops. - Burau Agni might work as well, with lots of REMs, TAGs and high-tec.
I don't really see the difference in a character being someone who's story was made up now for that character, or who's story was made up years ago for an RPG. They're all just fictional characters made up by someone at some point at the end of the day.
Having DMed the RPG, I did a lot of reading. Bureau Noir, I believe, is unlikely to be made into a sectorial, largely because their teams can be composed of litterally anyone. It depend on the situation at hand and who's best for the job, regardless of the faction they belong to. Need a tech expert and you have a Yu Jing one on call? Welcome to the team, where you have two PanO operatives. They are basically Defiance teams. Even more than that since you can have litterally anyone, from small time hacker to famous Maya Star and TAG pilot. Not just that but they operate by cells. One handler has a list of several associates that he or she contact for a mission. Some have extensive lists and rarely work with the same person again, while another has a set team they always use. It makes it difficult to have minis for it. You'd need a whole bunch of named characters rather than generic units. It's probably best to keep Noir for the RPG and Defiance. That being said, it would be nice in game as you'd be playing the handler. Perhaps in campaign mode it could work, but otherwise, unlikely.
Yeah, The more I think about it the more that what I expect from Noir is to never become an Infinity Sectoral.
