The Varangian Guard look excellent, especially for my Byzantine themed 0-12. Can't wait to see what that box looks like.
Aside from the hacker the Kappa are devalued greatly by Varangians. Kind of like Alguaciles in vanilla Nomads, the Jaguars are just better. And both may have the hacker replaced by HD+ guy as well.
I wanna like the Lynx, but it has no survivability outside of HD from TO:Camo and it doesn't start further up. It's about the same price as the Razor too.
Bizzare weapon combo outclassed by his other options. HD TO MSR is pretty solid ARO piece in vanilla. all the greatness of a Hexa but better. probably my go-to profile for him.

Eh, I'll stick with the Epsilon that has a Yudbot nearby. Varangian can toss Smoke too for protection.
Actually the TO plasma carbine could be potent shooting off a template under 16 with surprise shot and TO. Otherwise it has an assault pistol if burst is needed more than the blast.
For Varangians, do we think the Chain Rifle is better than 2 Chain-Colts? Two templates seems really great for just one point. What are the best LT options? I feel a little squeezed here, forced to take an Alpha as either LT or CoC.
Thats no different then the Hex which a very popular unit in NeoTerra. It has survivability by having a -6 mod from TO camo. The sniper and killer hacker are the best options. The Lynx specialists is unimpressive despite having a plasma carbine. After all, its stuck in your deployment zone. Varangian with 2 chain rifles and smoke is too good to pass up at 13 points. Thats forgoing the wonderful advantage that is a HD sniper. And you can always take both.
You can still add the 15 points HD plus the 8 points REMs for a 5 extra cheap regular orders. Which is funny because it was said they are suposed to be an elite (aka order starved) army...
Double Chain Colt's does sound good even if it's a smaller template. Quantity does have a quality all its own. That's what I was thinking. I've never liked the Hexas either though to be fair.
On second thought, 12 points for chain rifle + light shotgun is really good as well. And with only BS 10, a light shotgun is likely better than a sub machine gun. Also, I missed that it was dual chain-colts. That does explain why its only 1 point more. Still, it seems worth it. Your a lot more likely to kill something with 2 templates than 1.
Lynx is a killer hacker TO with BS 13, WIP 14, BTS3, Combi Breaker, Cybermine and Courage for 28 points. Hexa is a killer hacker TO with BS 12, WIP 13, BTS 0, Combi for 27. IMO is normal that you never liked Hexa, but Lynx is a very good and cheap unit.
They are good, but O-12 have specialists that can start/drop directly in the objetives. The TO MSR with BS13 in the other hand looks dangerous. It's an unpopular opinion but yes. Clearly the arms race is on...
