On the most recent episode of Mayacast (podcast) they stated that Gutier (Infinity's designer) had stated directly that Fireteam Cores must have a Trooper in them that had the original Fireteam Core profile. So no 4x Authorised Bounty Hunter Wildcards + 1 Rui Shi 'Zuyong' core in Dahshat for example. It must have a Zuyong in it. So questions: Is this an official ruling? Where was it actually said? Was it in text where it can be referred to? Also they said that 'Counts as' troops still count as the original core trooper. This makes sense in many ways (eg a Dire Foe counting as the same type as their base line troop), but leads to some similar fireteams as the 'all wildcard' ones - eg a 'Securitate' fireteam core made up of 3 Grenzers, Raoul Spector and Perseus (ie, no Securitate). I assume this is still ok then? Also, how does this apply to other types of Fireteam. For example, can a wildcard replace a member of a special specifically named Duo Fireteam?
I'm waiting for something written, clear as day, in one of the following locations before I consider this more than just a rumor/slip of the tongue: Updated Rulebook Errata/FAQ document Wiki Rules Forum (ie. here) Preferably, in that order of priority/importance.
This is pretty important since Bipandra is just a wildcard and no longer has the text "counts as a Fusilier for fireteam composition".
Is this the modern version of "I asked the developers at a convention, and they gave me a rules answer"? What a developer (allegedly) states on an alleged podcast isn' an official rules statement or errata.
Yeah i add my voice to "something this major needs text" Not as a go at gutier, more as, the potential interaction with this and the various ways to build links is complex and needs to be spelled out in detail if its going to be changed
Didn’t Gutier do the exact same thing with Tactical Awareness, requiring to be the link leader in order to be used, which turned out to be not as intended (despite RAW)?
I'm waiting on further clarification. Note that this is only in Neoterra. In Varuna she is 'just' a Fusilier.
I really, really hope that there will be a limit of "counts as" and "wildcard" in single fireteam. Maximum one of each. But this is just me :) Wining on lack of those in Bakunin...
As far as Im aware it's a request for any further clarification or information about the clarification claimed on the podcast that anyone might be able to provide on the rules forum. Also, you keep using that word ('allegedly'). I don't think it means what you think it means ;)
That would really screw a lot of the newer sectorials. Especially since a lot of the characters have 'counts as' instead of a specific statement like Kusanagi's special fireteam note.
