So I’m pretty new to using him. One thing I noticed is that if using Berserk, Don’t use the Martial Arts level 3, but instead use level 2. It’s still criting on 11+ but for the other roll the opponent needs to beat a 19! 2 wound guys go down and 1 wound killed outright. Anyone else have some advice?
Expect him to die, but if played right to exchange 2-3 times his points in kills. Move him up the board quickly but not recklessly. Don't forget that he is a spec-fire champ. Respect every enemy but don't fear any. Wave goodbye at link teams as you erase them from existence.
MA3 is still more likely to do at least a single wound due to the higher crit chance, MA2 gives a higher chance of doing two wounds against most targets but once you get to ARM values over 4 it rapidly becomes the worse option.
It actually only comes out to about a 1-3% difference to inflict at least one wound, but a significantly higher chance to do a second wound... I only ran the numbers against a Fusilier, Hospitaler, and Tikbilang, maybe there is a match up where it’s more significant.
i think berserk should prolly be your last option on him. the thing that is nice from berserk that he gets is assault. flying ten inches to anywhere and then also doing cc is nuts. keep in mind that if you do that, and use MA3, you are still critting on a 17+, and they have a -3 mod to whatever they do, shooting, dodging or whatever. i would pretty much only use berserk against a Lt., and even then only if they don't have CoC.
Berserk is primarily useful for beating up other CC specialists who are less resilient than yourself... and most things are less resilient than McMurrough.
Last week I used Assault to get into base contact with a Skiavoro. I was of course -3 but with Martial arts L3 and and CC23, not bad. I won but even with AP+DA he managed to only fail only 1 and went into NWI. The next order I used Bezerk and used MA level 2 just for the hell of it. Now he had to make an ARM save of DMG17. Of course he went down. But I kind of wished I had used MA2 the first time so he would have failed both ARM rolls.
Yes indeed. Though bear in mind you need LoF to your target to declare Assault, which reduces its utility somewhat.
Hi there, Dahshaters. I took McM for a spin yesterday in a game against Varuna (Safe Area) and oh boy did he deliver. Let me start by saying that I had never used him before, so this was all new to me. He super-jumped along the flank to lob spec-fire grenades against Camo infiltrators He smoke-dodged most of the incoming fire during the reactive turn He destroyed a Kamau/Orc/Fusilier link with said spec-fired grenades Eventually he died to a couple of crits from a MSV MSR Kamau, but by that point the damage was already done. I won the game with my Hunzakuts and Zhencha alone basically. Special shoutout to the minelayer Libertos: hadn't used them before and was really happy with them. They seem to be really good defenders and that cheap Dogged Chain-Colt is something no infiltrator wants to face in the midfield. There's a tourney in a month (missions are Safe Area, Biotechvore and Decapitation) and I will be taking McM and company with me. Love the unit, love the sectorial.
I'm still trying to get the hang of him. I've got to remember Spec fire with Regular grenades! I keep also over extending him from the rest of the group. Though if done correctly that 's not a bad thing.
