Dahshat only have a limited choice of Lieutenants: Ghulam Infantry, Brawlers and Zuyong Invincibles, I think it's only Druze that can match our lack of variety in Lt options. does anyone have any ideas about this? as Dahshat also don't have access to Chain of Command and our only Vet is the Al Fasid so I can forsee Loss of Lieutenant being a bit of a problem for this Merc company
Ikari says hi :) But I'm interested in the discussion, I know nothing of Haqq but Dahshat is the most intriguing new merc company in my eyes.
Oh ****, Ikari only have 2 don't they? and they don't even have a tougher option Like Druze or Zuyong. Personally I'm just not a fan of the "hide your Lt in some dank dark hole and hope for the best" tactic, but at least Ikari are very good at creating big cheap distractions (god bless Yuan Yuans and Tanko... and to a maybe lesser extent Bashi Bazouks). I need something that is going to be a points efficient threat that will distract from the wack a Lt mini-game
Lt options are better than Ikari and DBS, in Dashat Ghulam adds a 0 SWC 14 WIP Lt easy to hide as long as you have more Ghulams. The Zuyong Lt option is more resilient than a squishy LI. And you can make use of Sforza to pretend be an obvious Lt thus diverting the attention from your real one. In the next example list you can disguise Sforza as a Zuyong HMG with automedkit, which as it's 1 SWC, exactly the missing 1SWC in this list. The bounty hunter and Sforza link with the Rui Shi as a Zuyong CORE + Rui Shi XD Dahshat Company ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 7 2 1 LIBERTO (CH: Mimetism) Submachine Gun, Chain-colt, D.E.P. / Pistol, Knife. Definitely using the Reverend is a good idea, just think he might get pasted a bit quickly as he's a 28 or 30 point, 2 armour distraction, will have to give it a go as with the x-visor and BS 13 he at least has a good chance of getting some favourable mods in a firefight, it just rubs me the wrong way to spend 10% of my points on a false Lt that can't do anything useful otherwise until he has given up his use as a false Lt.
Yeah, Sforca is the answer! Pack him into the link with the Lt. (or the Haris) and it becomes very hard to guess which one is which. B2 Viral ammo is pretty cool for an ARO, paired with the BS13 and Xvisor its a rather nasty surprise and people will learn fast not to trust any obvious Lt. on the table when playing against Dashat. I guess Lts. and Hackers are Dashats short coming, but its not Ikari or Adriana level where you basically don't have any options.
This is very cute but keep in mind that in order to form the Zuyong Core, something in the link must actually have the Fireteam Core skill.
Fireteam Core is not a Skill. As long as the Sectorial chart lists the Fireteam as legal you are good to go. Fireteam Haris/Duo also isn't a Skill. It's just linked to the Profiles that have it and army displays it the same way.
You're right about Core but Haris and Duo absolutely are skills, and needed to form those Fireteams. http://infinitythewiki.com/en/Fireteam:_Haris_(Skill) http://infinitythewiki.com/en/Fireteam:_Duo_(Skill)
Definitely need Duo/Haris on the Profile. Good to know that that was indeed a Skill. The game is getting bigger and bigger, good to review the older parts now and then.
This may be because I'm coming off a leg of playing a lot of Ikari, but Dahshat has a pretty solid breadth of Lieutenant options. The frustration of Ikari is that you only get Lieutenants with rifles, meaning you are basically locked into hiding in the back and hoping a grenade doesn't land on your head. Druze isn't much better, though Arslan helps alleviate that a bit. By comparison, Dahshat's selection is limited but varied. Ghulam have two great options, both with an excellent WIP14: rifle+shotgun to sit in the back and stay safe, or the low budget HMG for a little bit of aggression when warranted. I don't really know what to make of the missile launcher, if anyone could suggest a use I'd be interested to hear it. Zuyong come in combi flavor for a bit of protection against assassination, and the Automedikit HMG. I have had a lot of good experiences with the HMG profile in vanilla Yu Jing - it's extremely reliable and quite safe as long as you don't take crazy engagements with it. It leaves plenty of room open for other attack pieces so you don't need to rely on it. Brawlers are likely to be the least popular since they're more expensive than Ghulam for significantly worse WIP and not a whole lot better combat capability. However I think they'll still have some utility since Brawler fireteams are quite capable and he can act as filler while his teammates keep him safe. All in all I think there's good options for multiple play-styles, and enough variety to keep people interested for quite a while.
In the old days, we took 2-3 Ghulam, hoped our opponent didn’t guess which one was the Lt, and we liked it. Actually, that was always really lame, come to think of it.
A big part of their appeal in Ikari for me is that rifle + light shotgun, and the ARM2. The Brawler lieutenant is a capable backup fighter, if not an elite combat monster. Which, given the utility of late-game lt orders, I quite like. That said, there's much more flexibility in armament in both Ghulam and Zuyong, and a much more survivable HI option. Feels pretty interesting for a lieutenant who might get their hands dirty.
And here I was drooling over the 20/0.5 HMG Lieutenant with WIP14, or the Zuyong HMG Lieutenant with automedikit. Dashat has few, but fantastic options for Lieutenant. :)
Coming from pano the idea of doing anything other than putting 2 or 3 Ghulams in a link to hide the LT seems laughable. They’re wip 14. Wip 14, people! In all seriousness, it didn’t register as a problem until you posted it. I think the bigger problem is that I keep building lists with 4 40mm bases and 5-7 55 mm bases. I don’t know how I’m going to fit everything in my deployment zone. The other option is putting Valerya into a zhuyong link with a tin and soaking up points on heavy infantry I suppose.
Thanks loads, I have some great ideas... Guess I'm spoiled with my Lt options usually; being a predominantly Haqq player, their sectorials have a huge number of Lt options. There's my ignorance showing, I need to have a better knowledge of Ikari; I've only played against them once and they took a big Wu Ming core and 4 Yuan Yuans, a load of remotes, and a Keisotsu tucked away in the corner of a building, hiding under a sign that said "I'm not the LT please don't kill me!" I didn't realise they did that just because it was him or a brawler and there were no other options. I don't like Arslan as a Lt, just because he so obviously the Lt it paints a huge target on him, I like him in an offensive harris team though, that light shotgun gets a lot of work when I field him.
My Arslan does not bother about the sign because when i field him its usually a LI list with almost full druze party, problem with veteran lvl1? xD
Lol ya if you have nothing but Druze then their just not gonna care when the Lt goes down, one of the benefits of being space mafiosi I suppose.
