Hello guys, I'm brain storming about a Vanilla Ariadna list with a concept in mind. I used to be a Merovingia player, but I'm giving up, they lack too many things to be interesting right now. I'm not leaving Merovingia empty handed, I took Mirage 5 with me ! The core of my list is : Ariadna ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 2 1 1 EQUIPE MIRAGE-5 . (0 | 38) 2 SWC | 107 Points Open in Infinity Army If I know how to play something in this game, it's Mirage 5. There are so many things you can do when you have them in your list. And playing Vanilla, I decided to play the "para trooper card" all the way by adding Van Zant. I tried this combo once and it does wonders. You can wreck havoc in ennemy lines while the rest of your list can relax and do the mission. I have 203 points left and I would like to have an all camo list. It used to work well in N2 because my opponent couldn't be everywhere and progressing in an area full of camos is order consuming. But I also need specialists. And that's where I have a problem because I end up taking "all" named characters... - I love Uxia and her superior infiltration... and she had up to my Mirage/Van Zant combo. - I like Vassily because he is a great camo lieutenant. And ambush camo in an all camo list is even better. - Why would I take a scout over McMannus ? He is autonomous and have tools for every job. I really want to know if playing so many named unit is considered "bad play" ? I just want to play a weird concept and put a challenge to my opponent. But not if it's obnoxious. Apart from named units, I was thinking to add cheap camo specialists like Chasseur (still our best forward observer imo), Strelok, ... Thanks in advance and sorry for my english !
I have two thoughts on the matter. First, you probably need a spetsnaz or tankhunter as a high burst active turn piece. I love our camo profiles, but many of them can struggle. Which leads to the second point. Many of the profiles you are picking are high point cost, so you are likely ending up with a limited insertion list, with orders off the table. An all camo list can be fun, but like most gimmicks, it falls apart against certain counters. Any MSV is going to seriously wreck your day.
I was thinking about a spetsnaz because of his ambush camo. MSV are a problem for Ariadna anyway, they will be my priority target but apart from MSV3, detecting costs orders and because of limited insertion, if my opponent have first turn, he will have two orders less (while I'm immune to that sneaky token !). I have only low W count models but as Ariadna player, that's something we are used to ! And what do you think about playing a lot of named characters ? Is it a problem for you ?
Playing multiple named characters is fine. They are just attack pieces, and fit into lists pretty easily. An all camo list can be done, but you are really missing out on the cheap regular orders that make Ariadna strong. An all camo list with Mirage-5 is maybe best as limited insertion? I don't know about the second group. The second one doesn't have enough order to really do something and just gives your opponent a way to supress two orders from your pool... I guess you already figured but I'm not a huge fan of two groups lists ^^

But I still think they can be fun thought experiments.
