As I'm still finishing up my ISS force I've not really looked into IA too much yet, but even though I haven't tried the new profiles yet there's some that I look forward to fielding in vanilla. Mostly: Daoying sniper and hacker l2s Haidao sniper (this might be just because I've always felt I've lacked in the ARO department. From what I can tell he should be a potent aro piece) Mowang nco for l2 synergies Zhencha for camo spam (in that order) I'm sure there are more gems out there I've overlooked so far, but these are the ones I'm most excited about
Dude. Always remember the assisted jump. You can hardly blame the Liu xing in that case. It doesn't sound like the outings were that bad in hindsight?
No and you are right. Much of it was just my bad rolls. I'll try him again but it's going to be a while. I'd like to do some more of my Ikari and kinda want to try some ISS again.
That's where my heart is right now - got a hankering to try out Bao Haris, even though it isn't recommended!
Ha! I'm going to try out tonight. Actually a 3-man core of Bao. Hah! I've been playing Ikari so much recently that I'd forgotten the words "up to" even existed in fireteam composition rules!
Im still not a big fan of IA, because I just like vanilla and IS more. But I had a list in mind and I like building list. I havent played this, and I dont know if I ever will, but what do you think? (0 | 8) CHAĪYÌ Yaókòng Flash Pulse, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (0 | 8) 5.5 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army Im still missing all the good YJ stuff, but this looks like fun. Zhanshi + SML Core, Zuyong Haris with Shang Ji and Haidao. When looking at the Shang Ji, I know why I play YJ/IS. For 14P more I get the fricking Su Jian...
I mean you could straight up just trade it out for a Zuyong HMG with TacAw, save 7pts and get a warcor and a YaoZao for either the doctor or the Engineer.
Totally legit. Just had noit seen that he has TA. This way I get the HMG range band as well. What I like about IA is the Daoying Sniper and the Zhencha, great addition for more agressive, infiltrating Vanilla lists. Daoying, Zhencha SMG, Kanren Mad Traps, Ninja KHD, Guilang FO/AHD. I love it and cant wait playing it.
You COULD use Shang Ji as a Zhanshi speedball, but your list includes Zhanshi LT so nevermind. For me almost every IA releases are great; it scratches the itchy part quite well, some might grumble about Mowang comparing it with Suji but that mimetism do wonders. One thing I'm not sure is Hulangs. Vulnerable to mooost issues, and sporting high pts.. I doubt we can preserve him well enough, especially in IA.
A bit worse than Shikami, with respect to terrain, though. Shikami needs terrain to navigate ON while Hulang needs to navigate around it, which makes it awkward.
Yeah, I feel like CB really missed their chance to make the Hulang a wire-fu master, at least give the poor Hulang super-jump!
Not going to lie and say it'd make it instantly a lot better, but in terms of shifting viability of the unit Super-Jump would be worth disproportionately more than what Super-Jump typically costs. Still better, Limited Camouflage is probably the most cost-effective way of min-maxing this unit, but Super-Jump fits both the narrative for the armour and makes the Hulang able to become a tool that answers one of the sectorial's challenges instead of forcing you to brute-force around that challenge just like so many others the sectorial faces. Would I be sticking my neck out if I said Specialist Operative is not at all necessary for the Hulang, and that I'd gladly sacrifice that particular button pushing enabler on the altar of getting Hulang airborne?
Same here! I love Ikari but can be very inflexible. I thought of doing 5-man but the 2 other bao were a waste. I figure start off with the CG+KS then changed to them to Bao depending on 1st or 2nd turn. I thought of doing it Vanilla to see Since this was a more appropriate thread I put it here.
That I kinda disagree on. I see the Hulang as the IA version of the Shikami. Slightly lighter/cheaper armor because it's on relatively common troops, so it shouldn't have both superjump and climbing plus, and since the Zhencha have climbing plus, the Hulang gets superjump.
Didn't say a word about Climb+ ;) I'm talking about sacrificing Specialist in order to keep it from feature/power creeping too much and giving it Super-Jump so its role changes more towards beatstick. Less Shikami in other words.
Yeah, if you want to make the Hulang more beatstick, then it's totally reasonable to drop Specialist. I think IA has enough beatsticks, though, and is short on tough Specialists. Could always split the difference and have both Specialist and non-Specialist profiles, like Saito.
