    Greetings fellow PanOceanians!

2018 has come and gone. As it passed us by, a plethora of new link options and configurations has been allowed by our new or reworked sectorials. I was thinking we could all drop our favorite(s) here with a short explanation on how we use them and why. Hopefully this will inspire one another to try a different play style or encourage an alternative tactical approach. I'll start:

    Shock Army of Acontecimento

As ASA saw a recent rework and allowed mixed teams – this was such a boost to the sectorial overall in terms of power. Starting turn 1 you have a really tough MSR, hitting on 15s, MSV1 to mitigate negative modifiers, and mimetism to keep you safe. This team has great deployment zone defense with multiple mine layers. You can relink at 5 with the ORC when you go on the offensive. Having a tough, high BS active turn monster that can eat the occasional crit is absolutely amazing. The sensor/additional mine is icing on the cake as it allows you to move up and protect yourself from pesky infiltrators.

Varuna is – in my opinion – one of the strongest sectorials out there, more than partially because of this link team right here. It's no secret to anyone that the Kamau MSR is one of the toughest ARO pieces out there. He's like the Bagh turned up a couple of notches. While this team has less utility than it's ASA equivalent, it brings valuable repeaters to the midfield, something that synergizes really well with your Zulu. While the Kamau may not be as sturdy as the ORC, he is a better shooter because of his mimetism. Another thing I love about this link team is it's low cost – SWC and points wise. Having such a strong table presence for such a low cost really opens up the rest of your list building options. an LT can be splashed into this one and the ASA one as needed.

While the MO update may be sour grapes for some – it has risen my interest in the sectorial. I played it every so often before but now I've gotten pretty aggressive at trying to get good with it. MO has a ton of interesting links, from pure HI to HI/LI hybrid. For me, simplicity while maintaining flexibility is key. It has decent ARO in the form of the HRL, while it may not be as tough as the Kamau or Bagh – it is a more interesting weapon in my opinion. Fire/templates encourage the opponent to think twice before throwing a TO or ODD heavy infantry at you and forces enemy links to spend more orders advancing. The Black Friar was always lack luster in my eyes before, but with linkability, he can be taken for the advance and trounce in the mid field. He also offers link defense with his drop bears, a template weapon, and valuable shock ammo for taking out Warband. His MSV2 is also pretty critical in taking out smoke throwers or Camo. Talk about a Swiss army knife! If given first turn and you don't plan on AROing with the Order Sergeant HRL, you can use his FD1 to push up the board and lie in wait for his link team members to catch up and relink. I've always been interested in the Father Knight. Once again, the idea is to relink at 5 once the HRL dies or is no longer relevant. This guy is a monster and I love it – rocking ARM 5 BS 14 BTS 9 and CC23, he is one of the toughest heavy infantry we have. Other factions only dream of these stats or have something partially comparable in an S5 platform. His already high BS is leveraged to 17 by his link members which means he can take on most enemy troopers with ease. While he has no CC skills other than assault – 23 is high enough to take on most enemy infiltrators or other camo platforms, especially with link bonuses. While he may not strike every time in CC, most enemies' chance of actually hurting him back is miniscule.

Poor NCA. no new link teams for them, outside of the new machinist being able to join bolts. This is your standard, pretty vanilla team. not much to say about it other than it shoots decently. It's a shame Fusiliers are only AVA5 in NCA otherwise I'd sneak an HMG in there as well. Bipandra is always an option but kind of pigeon holes your doctor into not taking Palbots. hopefully we'll see a small update or change soon with these guys– I want to be enticed to play them again.

This brave new world of mixed links is pretty spectacular. With Acon's big changes, I actually felt a little nostalgia for my Regular-only links. They quietly got work done for me for a couple of years. There's no doubt that the new links are phenomenal, but I'm not likely to be buying Regular Sapper Snipers like I did before. Those gals saw a lot of combat.

    Onto the main topic:

    Varuna
The Kamau HRL and Fusilier light grenade launcher deserve special mention. Both are spectacularly cheap and highly lethal. They're easy to overlook, but a really great addition to the Fusilier Core.

    Acon
The ORC HMG is really happy in this link.... Raw 4-4 MOV BS17 vs 4-2 BS15 Mimetism, MSV1 is more of a decision, compared to ORC v Kamau.

    NCA
Fusilier HMG, missile, and 3 mooks. These 5 guys have seen a ton of action. I'm a little sorry that the Fusilier big guns don't have as much place in Varuna, but they definitely have earned their place in NCA.

I, like the the OP, really like having a 6th body for my core link, so that when one inevitably dies, I have the option of recreating a full core team with 5 bodies.

With the update to shock army, I've been partial to:
    Regular Link+
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

    [IMG]6
    ORC HMG / Pistol, Knife. (2 | 44)

I often like to use the fireteam above as a solid rock to defend my deployment zone. I prefer the regular sniper to the Bagh Mari because it's cheaper, and sapper provides incredible versatility in deployment. You can put the sniper up against the back edge of your deployment zone and still benefit from cover. About half of the games I play with this link don't end up using the ORC at all. Which is fine, because it is in the link to project a threat and force my opponent to prepare for it by making sure they bring everything they have attacked or pushed buttons with back into hiding before my turn begins.

My main attack pieces are a solo Bagh Mari HMG (which I often deploy as my reserve model) and Dart. I use Nagas (usually an FO and a KHD) as my button pushers. I love Bagh Mari. I think they are some of the most cost effective gunfighters in the game. With season 10, they get forward deployment. The HMG as a reserve deployment, especially when I go first, on the opposite side of my deployment zone as my link is able to find gaps in my opponent's deployment. When they have deployed in response to my link, the Bagh Mari can often hit flanks that are relatively less defended.

Dart is there in case my opponent has kept everything down to avoid my link. The nagas can drop some mines and push buttons while dart moves up to assassinate a key target or lock down a link team of assault piece with mines of e/m grenades (depending on the loadout I chose)

    Fusiliers

In NCA fusiliers play a similar, although cheaper, role as regulars in Acon. They are there to provide 4-5 orders for a Swiss Guard and some other guys who really don't matter because a Swiss HMG solves almost every problem. The missile launcher fusilier is present to die. He is there to cause my opponent some anguish while staring at a point on the table that he/she wants to get to. The HMG is there because late game, after the missile launcher is probably dead, a burst 5, BS 12 hmg is really good. The other three are there to hide the LT. Sometimes I put a specialist, usually an FO in the team, but I rarely want to move aggressively with the link, so I often leave specialists out.

Sometimes I include a hacker, just so that I have a hacker with sixth sense to force aros by hackable stealth models and to be a deterrant to HI or TAGs running around on my table half.

    Kamau
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

    [IMG]5
KAMAU (Multispectral Visor L2) MULTI Sniper Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 32)

This link is more flexible than it looks. Alongside it I almost always include a Kamau HMG and a Kamau HRL or an ORC Hmg or Feurbach. The Kamau HMG can be deployed much like the Bagh Mari I listed above. It can be included in the link if I think it will be valuable or used as a flanking attacker.

The Kamau HRL is an incredible interesting piece. I often keep it out of the core team because I really like it as a mobile firing platform. If I have a haris, the HRL will be in it. If I don't, I'll use him as a solo attack piece. Burst 2 is not my favorite but splashing a fire template onto models that are not prepared for it is pretty amazing. Couple that with the fact that the SMG can be used to punch through heavy armor, NWI, or dogged at close range, and this model become incredibly versatile and a hitter.

The ORCs are pretty good in a link and I include them if I need a 2 wound data tracker or something heavy to hold a zone.

I rarely leave the Kamau sniper standing in my first turn, because it is likely that my opponent still has a linked HMG on the table. Instead, I wait until turn two or three when she can dominate an objective by simply looking at it.

Like others, having that 6th body for your link is an invaluable tool to have. The Fuerbach ORC deserves more love here though, he is my favorite new profile besides Patsy. In the reactive turn throwing out 2 explosive BS 14 shots is no joke, and the active turn is just as good. The HMG provides flexibility for the active turn and the 6th body if the ORC goes down.

Its clunky, has not that much special tricks and it is expensive but i like it anway and boy does it have raw power!
Joan and her Hospitallers is one of the reasons i like MO that much and it will always be my favorite PanO Linkteam. :)
I probably don't have to say much about what it does and how to use it because its pretty straightforward and well known.
What i like the most about this Fireteam is the fact, that every member is a decent threat and with the addition of the Santiago KHD it has good defensive utility and two specialist to walk up the board.

I love the ORC, I really wish he could link with 4 Fusiliers in Varuna – that way the Kamau could be my ARO piece and when he dies I can relink at 5 with the ORC. it's a shame they make you take that tax but I'm glad you found a way to make it work! Using the ORC as ARO versus the Kamau who remains linked anyway, neat idea!

I love Joan too, she's by far the poster child for our faction. I'm currently trying to write lists with her in mobility armor solo. I wish they included her in more links because while I appreciate the big boy lists, I find myself struggling to effectively spend the remaining 100 points/ 5 SWC.

Haha i made it a whole hobby to write Joan Doomlink lists lately. xD
I currently have ca. 10 lists i want to try at some point. Most of them only have minor differences but it is so much fun to try to fit the stuff in you like. Using up all the SWC is a hassle though.

I think the simple fact alone that you're able to relink if the main gun goes down has it's merits.

For me, it's got to be the good old NCA Fusilier fireteam.

This is my most common configuration:

    [IMG] Neoterran Capitaline Army
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

    [IMG]5
[IMG] FUSILIER Lieutenant Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10)

[IMG] FUSILIER Missile Launcher / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 15)

But I would often swap in the HMG, replacing either the Forward Observer or the second Combi.

Some people hate the linked Hacker, but I have found most people so terrified of long range NCA active firepower that it's irrelevant, and the Sixth Sense on a Hacker is invaluable.

eh, I agree that he's often not at risk because of NCA ARO presence. I don't think sixth sense will save him though, if you're using forward repeaters to bother enemy HI – you're just asking for death.

It's funny, every meta seems to have a different experience of this.

In mine KHDs basically swept every list clear of hackers entirely, but then even KHDs themselves became rare (because they had no targets).

Now it's rare to see anything beyond a regular device for buffing remotes (if that) so it's not that much of a risk.

Here are my favorite links in MO at the moment. It's not ONE link but the possibility to have two different CORE links for différent situation.

Start with an haris of Hosp + Koni and a Core of mag + Santiago OR switch to get a Core of Hosp + santiago + Koni and a few magister running forward that your main link will catch up later.

A tool for every situation !

You were able to run 2 Hospitalers if you wanted, the Doc is far from bad, just more expensive. And beiong dirt cheap is kinda the point of a 4 Magister Link. 130 points for ridiculously durable 5 HI Link. To top it off a HMG was still a HMG and while you might feel like downplaying it, MO really needed and still needs to get out of the DZ somehow *shrug*. Kamau Snipers don't make that problem any easier.
