Hey there, my friend plays JSA and I do not believe has bought any of the new models for JSA since they became their own army. Can someone do me a solid and let me know what models have come out since JSA broke off? Thank you!
JSA army pack Tankos Aragoto Keisotsu and Kempeitai box In terms of new profiles: Haramaki Zensenbutai became Tanko Zensenbutai Raiden HRL became Ryuken 9 HRL Raiden Spitfire became Kempeitai Spitfire Asuka became Kuroshi Rider
I should point out that most of the new models are much bigger than the old JSA troops. (Exception being the Domaru, which came out more than a year ago, and are current-HI size) The Keisotsu, Kempeitai, and Ryuken are all a full head taller than their older counterparts!
Definitely true for the resculpts. Most of the CAD stuff is new scale, so Shikami, Yojimbo, the Musashi Bros all fit fine. I also find that the old ninja twin pack and Saito have such unusual poses that it's hard to tell scale differences.
Does anyone have a comparison between the new and old Aragoto? I've got the old ones unpainted and I'm curious if the new ones are a big enough improvement to upgrade.
Don't have a pic, but Celty/Kuroshi Rider's bike is noticeably bigger. This isn't necessarily a problem, since it's on a 55mm base (the old Aragoto were designed to fit on a 40mm base, and just barely do). Also, with the old Aragoto on 55mm bases, the bikes look relatively small, like 600s (or Ducatis). Celty's bike is about the size of a CBR1000 or ZX12 in comparison. Not jarringly big, in other words.
Thanks! I was mostly curious about the new 2 pack. I assume it's similar, but I was curious if anyone had a picture so I could see how much of a difference it really is. I agree, comparisons with Celty don't feel THAT much bigger, but I'm on the fence regarding whether the new 2 pack is worth the upgrade.
Guys, since we got a new Kaizoku Spec-ops incoming, maybe there is a chance we will get a Ryuken-9 blister as well? What do you think?
I'd say it's very unlikely. My reasoning for that the starter pack covers both profiles available and CB wants to reduce SKU.
It also provides the AVA1 Kaizoku Spec-ops. Was it a limited edition only? Ryuken are Ava 3 and ppl regularly field multiples, buying additional blisters is ok, but buying additional 10-model box sets doesn't seem like a good customer policy ;) I still have my hopes up.
The Combi Kaizoku was a Preorder bonus, the recent release is the same model with different arms and head. Another SMG Ryuken would be nice, I'm currently using the Guijia and O-Yoroi pilots as number 2 and 3.
I have the JSA, some old Aragotos, the new Aragoto box and Asuka box, but all of them (except Asuka and her hacker buddy) are unassembled. I can post the photos when I finally build them. Most likely during next week, because there'll be the first ever ITS tournament in my city on Sunday and my army is still mostly unpainted.
The new release is a completely new model. Same design, but does not share any of the same parts with the limited model. Edit: and the Kaizoku in general are better used for proxing as other units then as actual spec-ops. The Keisostu is such as sad spec ops platform to build from...
"I'll build my bikers next week", I said. "I'll post the photos", I said. Welp, I'm a big fat liar xD I've built a Spitfire Aragoto from the new box. No old Aragotos, 'cause it turns out I lost one steering arm of one of the three guys, and I have no idea from which one. No Kuroshi, because I'm a lying liar who lies. But who cares, photos! Quality isn't that good, but. Aragoto Hacker (from Asuka box) and Aragoto Spitfire (new box) Asuka and new Spitfire Same, side by side. And a family photo. As you can see, new sculpts are bigger than older ones. But depending on the pose, this difference can be from almost negligible (Spit vs Asuka) to glaring (Hacker vs Spit).
There really is a massive difference in size. I managed to make Asuka fit on the new bike and I think it works because she is female and smaller than the males, however I needed to add a “tactical” footpath for the conversion to work due to her pose more than being a lot smaller. As you can see the new riders just look silly on the old bikes. Makes them look like adults riding PW50s lol. However the size of the riders is not drastically different. I think it’s just that the new riders are more bulky and the old bikes are too small. In short, you can put old riders on new bikes and they look ok.
I'm honestly going to disagree, I see the older bikes as being about the size of modern 600cc bikes (or Ducati literbikes), while the new bikes are closer to the size of 1200cc bikes. Sufficiently interchangeable for me that I'm not planning on buying any of the new bikes. Helping that decision is the fact that I own 8(!) old Aragoto.
Is that something uncommon? 4+Asuka for your standard bike spam, plus extras for WYSIWYG. I think I have 6+Asuka in various states of assembly.
