The army 6 says "up to 3 Fusiliers and up to 2 Orcs varuna" SO 1x Orc varuna division + 4x Fusiliers is valid.
oh man, yeah thought the comment was that its bad, not that its illegal. hmm Nah hes right, you need a 5th member, hmm
Up to 3 fusiliers means that you can only have a maximum of 3 fusiliers on the link right? how is 4 fusiliers + 1 orc valid?
So I think this is then a strength and a drawback. It does make the link more exspencive to put a Kamau FO in (9 pts) But that gives you a wip13 specialist in the link and a back up light attack piece for hte link. Its cost me an order in the list im running it in.
I think I was reading that 3 as a four. I feel foolish now. Hahhahahaha. I've been going with 3x Fusilers +1x Kamau + 1x Orc, too good to pass up. Its only +10 points to go from HMG fusiler to HMG Kamau. At least I haven't made a mistake on the tabletop.
Im leaning the same But making the Kamau the specialist. Actually as much as this might seem like a kick in the teath Im finding more inderesting optoins for just the cost of "1 order" an order I potentially dont lose if I take Patsy Yeah also lliking this VIRD2 ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 6 ORC (Varuna Div.) (Multiterrain: Aquatic/Jungle, Stealth) HMG / Pistol, Knife. (2 | 45) KAMAU (Multispectral Visor L2) MULTI Sniper Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 32) KAMAU Paramedic (MediKit) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 22) FUSILIER (Forward Observer, Deployable Repeater) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 12) FUSILIER (Forward Observer, Deployable Repeater) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 12) FUSILIER (Forward Observer, Deployable Repeater) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 12) 3.5 SWC | 135 Points Open in Infinity Army
Yeah, I usually run something like this in ASA: Shock Army of Acontecimento ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 6 REGULAR Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10) REGULAR Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10) REGULAR (Minelayer, Sensor) Combi Rifle, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 14) REGULAR Paramedic (MediKit) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 12) BAGH-MARI (Minelayer) MULTI Sniper Rifle, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 28) ORC HMG / Pistol, Knife. (2 | 44) 4 SWC | 118 Points Open in Infinity Army Which gives me a really flexible options, all for dirt cheap. A wip 13 specialist, a way to deal with camo, and a huge gun. I'd love to mimic something like this is Varuna, in fact I was excited to, but no luck. I'll have to change my gameplay a bit. Patsy is an option – just because she let's us use the LT. order on the link which kind of mitigates it's cost. But this might end up being my go-to: Varuna Immediate Reaction Division ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 6 ORC (Varuna Div.) (Multiterrain: Aquatic/Jungle, Stealth) HMG / Pistol, Knife. (2 | 45) FUSILIER Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10) FUSILIER Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10) FUSILIER (Forward Observer, Deployable Repeater) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 12) KAMAU Paramedic (MediKit) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 22) KAMAU (Multispectral Visor L2) MULTI Sniper Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 32) 3.5 SWC | 131 Points Open in Infinity Army I'll also have to do some experimenting with the Feuerbach, and see if that has a place over the HMG. I only say I prefer doing this in ASA is because the link, I find, is ultimately more effective. The Varuna version is slightly more expensive, lacks sensor, and has no mines for mid-field protection. Obviously Varuna has benefits of it's own like MSV2 instead of 1 and higher BS, but I think when it flips to the active turn the ASA version is a bit stronger
Yea, you are getting link bonus for cheap, sure, that is good, but dont make a joke man, no one is going to use it as a solo The Zuyong is paying less, getting an extra order and can be part of links that are just much much more, for real Not only that but it doesn't have to stop when it gets to 10 orders In the end Orc are the only HI we can use (there is the Montesa, but that is something different), and its expensive for what it brings, thats just a fact of life, he is good beat stick when in a link, amazing is too big a word for that. I only played NCA (no link for HI) and Vainilla (no link at all) so about that last part i cant give an opinion. Just different opinions i guess
@MikeTheScrivener You could probably get a more comparable fireteam with the following: Varuna Immediate Reaction Division ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 6 ORC (Varuna Div.) (Multiterrain: Aquatic/Jungle, Stealth) Feuerbach / Pistol, Knife. (2 | 43) FUSILIER Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10) FUSILIER Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10) FUSILIER Paramedic (MediKit) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 12) FUSILIER (Forward Observer, Deployable Repeater) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 12) KAMAU (Multispectral Visor L2) MULTI Sniper Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 32) 3.5 SWC | 119 Points Open in Infinity Army This at least is only 1 point more (3 if you go with the ORC HMG). What I'm most excited about is that you can reform a link if pieces start falling off with other wildcard troops or more fusiliers, which is something that is possible in ASA but not nearly as flexible.
as previously discussed in the thread, 1 ORC + 4 Fusiliers is not a valid link team. As soon as the Kamau dies the ORC cannot reform at 5 members with his Fusilier buddies. This is the main difference when comparing to ASA, as ASA lets you min-max with dirt cheap cheer leaders. Varuna does not.
I probably should have posted the rest of my list that includes more wildcards to swap in as needed. Though I'm curious when making a mixed fireteam the wildcards can stand in for both ORCs or fusiliers correct?
yes, they can be either. A Kamau can count as either an ORC or a Fusilier. To amend your link you've posted above, id remove the Fusi para with a Kamau para, since 4 Fusiliers and an ORC is illegal, taking the 4th Fusilier is kind of useless.
Fair enough, though I wonder why you aren't using a Kamau forward observer + fusilier paramedic to save a point and give you a better FO/flash pulse in the kamau.
because the deployable repeater is ultimately more useful than a better Flash Pulse ARO in my opinion. Although of course, you can always include the Fusi para, Kamau FO, and a Fusi FO. I just like to try and min-max in my lists where applicable.
Ah, I had feeling this was the case. I've often found the deployable repeater to be something of an order sink since I usually have bot with repeater running around doing other things as well as be a repeater. I also face dog warriors pretty regularly and having a flash pulse handy (or abundant) has been helpful.
sure – it's nice having some type of defense for your ORC built into your link team. The 8 pt bot is really really nice and I always take 2 in all my lists, but it ends up being more order efficient if you're already running your link up the board any way. think of it more as a defensive play than an offensive one.
