Lol. I didn't even check because it's an attack with a BS Weapon. Edit: If it's not a BS Attack, is it even affected by Vis Mods?
This is the only point in the rule that even mentions BS Attack and it isn't bold like other parts identifying specific rules. Although technically the rule doesn't seem to indicate how it would work as an attack. It has the Attack trait, of course, but does not say how you would attack. Compared to Triangulated for example which has the line that it allows you to make a BS Attack. There is nothing like that in the new MMLX... It reads as though that type of line was left out.
It could be, but we know it's a BS attack. It's like marksman lvl2 but with only burst 1 and they don't get the cover bonus to armor. Low viz and all that jazz would still be in effect.
Except it isn't like MML2 at all. LX is an Entire Order Skill. while L2 is an automatic skill. That alone makes them very different. While we can assume that it is meant to be a BS attack, as it stands right now there is nothing to indicate it as such using rule conventions.
It does talk about the model making a BS attack, and it also talks about stacking with other modifiers. It could have been written better, but it's not unclear how it should be played.
What a friggin mess. Why is every new rules release fraught with such ambiguity/mistakes? I love this game and all, but I'm really really looking forward to N4.
Honestly? Combinatorical problems, IMHO. With each addition there are more and more interactions to take into account.
I mean I got bad news for you if you think an N4 release will have any fewer issues with ambiguity and mistakes. Infinity is a living rules set. Content tends to be tested and proofed less with these and just shoved out the door, because the mentality is rightly you can very quickly fix any issues that crop up. That's the advantage a living rules system has over the more traditional ones and it's helpful using this system when you're translating this game from Spanish into English because there are understandably going to be some errors that may occur. The problem is when you go on siesta instead of making sure you jump on top of the problems as soon as they crop up. See all the unanswered questions about ITS X, the various rule disputes that don't get officially resolved. THIS THREAD HAS 250+ POSTS NEARLY 3000 VIEWS AND IT PRACTICALLY JUST NEEDS A YES OR NO ANSWER FROM CB TO RESOLVE IT. The lack of effort is absolutely mind blowing sometimes when stuff like that is allowed to run so long without somebody simply making a decision on which way it was supposed to be played. That is a culture problem within CB, and simply dropping N4 isn't going to fix this. They simply don't care enough about the presentation of their game, that they're happy to leave stuff like the ITS X document, riddled with major typos and errors (like missions scoring wrong), up on the website for literally months so far without bothering to fix anything. It's so bad that if you want an up to date set of rules you need to use a third party app because the 1.0 version of ITS X still up on the website is so full of errors it's not funny. Until CB actually care about Infinity being the best tabletop miniature game out there, you're going to have to deal with this. Sorry.
Speculative Fire and Intuitive Attack do not have a "BS Attack" label. They have "Attack" label, and then specify in the first bullet point of effects that the user is making a BS Attack. Marksmanship lvl x seems perfectly consistent with other entire order BS attack skills to me. "Sensor: Triangulated Fire" is the one that seems inconsistent. I'm not sure if there is a reason for that.
But you do an BS attack. It just does not have the label. "In the same way, in this single BS Attack, the users ignore all the MODs provided by Partial Cover....." -From the new rules pdf p9
Oh yes. Good. Missed that. it would've been very weird otherwise. Still is a bit strange it doesn't have the BS Attack label.
