Since Morats are being discontinued, what do you think, is it a sign that we'll get some new fancy stuff in 2022 or 2023?
I think it's too early to speculate. And the prospects for MAF are somewhat positive despite the rumours of discontinuation. wait for more information, mate.
I'd like to see, say, a Sygmaa (which are dramatically underutilized) CA sectorial, opening a way to a new Sygmaa/Tohaa NA2. But I agree with DaRedOne, it's too early to speculate.
I doubt we'll see a new sectorial, probably just a rework. Heaven knows the CA sectorials need it. But i'd sell a kindey for a Sygmaa sectorial.
@Bostria strongly implied a reworked existing sectorial army for the Adepticon release, and specified it was for N4, in the Christmas studio update. The GenCon release will be a Code One battle pack; most likely to be Aleph/SP vs Haqq/QK(?) since they are the 2 factions not part of C1 yet. I think CA is unlikely to be the army pack and that the withdrawal of MAF products presages a future action pack instead.
Anyone's guess at this point. The discontinuation of most of the Morat SKUs could presage a repackage into Action Pack/ C1 boosters. Equally it could mean that they are the next to be mothballed to make room for something new. Which tbh I'd be OK with from a selfish point of view. Its a mostly complete range that I have everything I want for. Expect for a new Zerat which I live in hope of seeing one day. I doubt very much we'll see a new CA sectorial, I think we'll roll with what we've got for the foreseeable future. More likely a rework of MAF or Onyx if they want to spruce up CA in some way.
Just ordered the rodoks and krakot which I didn't have yet just to be safe. I'm somewhat happy with how morats play ATM, i'd love an onyx rework tho I feel like they need it a bit more tbh :(
If a Sygmaa sectorial turns up now I’ll know you’ve made some sort of Faustian bargain… That would be quite interesting indeed.
I think and I hope CB would not add new sectorials. They would improve and would work with existed one. They told us about optimization of sectorials and their plans about “three sectorials for a faction”. And I really hope, that morats would be with us again as soon as possible.
Well that 3 sectorials per-faction is a bit too late for PanOceania who has 5. I think that Combined should have more than 3 due to their multiple alien species have their own forces. People also want an Ur sectorial to play the Charontid, Avatar, Skiavoros & Anathematic outside of Vanilla lists. I think Tohaa could end up staying as one Vanilla Sectorial due to their fireteam rules. Aleph has two and they are fine at that number but there could be room for one more if more units are crated. But they are sitting at a comfortable and good spot with their two. Haqqislam has a possible fourth sectorial but not enough models to make it unique from the other three. Nomads seem to be done with one sectorial per mothership. Yu Jing also seems to be in a similiar completed state with their own three sectorials. And Ariadna has five as well. I think they are done with new sectorials. O-12 has many Bureaus but I don't know how many of them are fighting armies. Plus there is the fact that they don't have alot of units to warrant more than the sectorial they already got. Which makes me wonder if future O-12 sectorials will include units that will be present in all the faction's rosters. I don't even know if O-12 has enough different units to make another sectorial currently. I believe it is possible for at least two different forces for the faction but CB might need to create a few more units to make it unique from Vanilla & Starmada. Which means out of all the factions, outside of sectorials going out of print for awhile, The only factions that need to be given more sectorials are O-12 & a possible Khanate Haqqislam sectorial. Everyone else seems to be in a good position when it comes to the number forces within a faction besides Tohaa. They need to be released but I don't think they need a sectorial. If they do get one good for them. Final Scores: PanO - 5 Yu Jing - 3 Ariadna - 5 Haqqislam - 3 or 4 Nomads - 3 Combined - 3 to 5 Aleph - 2 or 3 Tohaa - 1 or 2 O-12 - 2 to 3 NA-2 - 8 to 10
Three in production Sectorials, not total. PanO and Ariadna both only have 3 Sectorials with miniatures in production (MO/SWF/Varuna, and USARF/TAK/Kosmoflot) That also seems to be a maximum as Haqq and Aleph both had Sectorials moved OOP while having 3 or fewer Sectorials total.
I was counting sectorials that were released already not ones that were oop or not. I do find it interesting that Haqq and Aleph had sectorial units taken away from the market. Though in their case those sectorials are getting revamped model and perhaps structure wise.
Sygmaa would be really cool, but vanilla CA is already so obnoxiously powerful at the moment. There'd need to be a lot of care taken to make sure that whatever flows over into vanilla doesn't end up pushing the balance of power even further in its favour.
Whenever CB want to expand CA they have a natural path to do it: revamp Onyx. I'm not saying they're unplayable or anything like that, but their listbuilding is pretty stiff and the actual units that make them unique in CA are the weakest links in the sectorial (ie Maakrep, Umbra, Nexus). It's a shame because in a lot of ways they really should be the door-kicking, species-blending posterchild of Combined Army.
Onyx is a contact force and, now the contact with the human sphere is done, is time for the main force. The EI could used the Morat Agression Force or... Edit: on a second thougt, MAF looks more like a riot control force than a conquering army...
So if I understood corectly, Morats getting the Action Pack of this year, with redesign, resculpts and improved...
