Notice how Hacking Programs are marked as "Short Skill", "Long Skill". Also, there are is no "Hacking Attack" skill anywhere (try searching for it).
Yeah, there is no "Hacking Attack" skill equivalent to "BS Attack" or "CC Attack", each program is a separate Skill.
A bunch of weapons also have the same kind of bordered section with "Short skill/ARO" written on it, and they are still weapons used with the BS Attack skill. Obviously, I tried to search for it. I also read the hacking rules, it sais nothing about a hacking program being a skill. "Hacking Attack" is in italic multiple times, there are mentions of labels "like common skills, special skills, and equipment". Not having a skill hacking program doesn't mean something, that is not explicitly a skill is a skill in my dictionary. Rules for (non-roleplaying, I guess) games are "permitting", they allow things you can do, anything not written is not allowed/not existing in the context of the game.
Thing is, all members of a Fireteam must declare the same ARO to maintain integrity. Two members shooting different a combi rifle and a nanopulser is fine, as they're both declaring BS Attack However, two Hackers responding with Sucker Punch and Redrum would cause one of them to be kicked from the Fireteam due to declaring different AROs. I think it's stupid, and possibly unintentional, but it's the rules as written.
But your ARO is a hack attack, using diferent programs in ARO with 2 hackers in a fireteam, they can do it, any member of fireteam with hacker ability added can do the ARO hack attack on any program with ARO response, rest of members non-hackers just do only iddle.
I don't say you are not right. I'm not stating, that there is a skill "Hacking attack". I'm stating, that neither version is written. Show me where it is, and I'm good.
When you Declare your ARO you must also Declare what skill you're using. In the absence of a "Hacking Attack" ARO, the only alternative is that each Program is a separate Skill. If you wish to ARO with Redrum, you would declare Redrum. If you wish to ARO with Sucker Punch, you Declare Sucker Punch. As an aside this has already been discussed here: https://forum.corvusbelli.com/threads/multiple-hackers-in-a-fireteam.3117/#post-40753
Infinity uses colors and key works to define skills. For instance see this BS attack is a skill, it is labled a skill, and has a color coding Rifle is not a skill Redrum is There is no hack attack skill
Except every HD+ Asura has Redrum. Also, Yadu were hyped like being "the glue of every fireteam", but it's Vet Kazaks who got wildcard status.
Hence my concern that they were pushed out too early as far as the rules go so that the faction they gave preferential treatment to would have someone to beat up on :P
Given the power level and flexibility of OSS I don't see them as anyone's punching bag, TAK included. NCO and SP Upgrade look like - unfortunately - typical CB mishaps.
I have been playing my oss for a few games and they are nasty. I would not call them punching bags. TAK is....good. But honestly TAK just made vanilla ariadna a lot better. Vanilla losses the fireteams but gains chasseurs and infil grunts to go with the streloks, and frontoviks, and vet kazaks. But really, no I think OSS is pretty good. I have enjoyed it immensely.
What if Sucker Punch or Redrum changes in the new book? We know new skills and equipment are being announced. Conceivably, one program might change so that its roll is more unique, overlapping less with the other.
I wish they'd stop. At this point I'd rather they stopped releasing new rules to remember and tweak the existing ones. :s
