How did CB justify removal of MSR Tiger Solider or HMG Paracommando and Hellcat? Would they be OP in N4 ? Or was it "we don't have a (recent) miniature for that profile"?
A lot of the jump troops lost their longer range ones garuda being another. Think it is to encourage aggressive play with jump troops rather than bringing one on in defensive position , but I have no back up for that just my general thought Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
Probably the same way they justified the removal of HMGs from Akali, Tiger Soldiers, Ragiks, etc in N3. The weapons don't fit the up close and personal role of a drop trooper. In addition to the Tiger Sniper never getting a model and the Paracommando getting reworked for Kosmoflot in N4
Long Range weapon on combat jump troop would've been excellent without the scatter rule. You would be able to afford dropping in every situation, because a long range weapon trooper spawning at your deployment zone line if you fail is still a very valid trooper (unlike a short ranged one). That kind of gamble was held back in N3 because you had to target the corner of the map to have 70% chance to fall off the table if you scattered (rolling anything but 1, 3, 10, 11, 12 or 20 on the scatter dice). But if you scattered mid-table you were usually screwed by ARO.
Now they don't have to put Circular Template when Combat Jumping. Now they don't disperse as a result of a failed PH roll anymore. They might not be huge, but anyway they are buffs. So I think I could respect CB's discretion to remove long range weapons from AD troops, even if I love dropping any type of Hellcats.
It's not an N4 thing, this has been the trend since at least the start of N3 and I believe many of these profiles are just holdovers from then. Have never seen an MSR Tiger in like nine years of playing the game. I don't think many people are going to miss that one
I actually used that piece when I was running multiple Tigers, it was actually decent enough that I made a conversion to represent it. The idea was the first Tiger cracked the immediate LZ open with their BSG/Combi+DTW then the MSR Tiger dropped in after them and started hitting shit that was visible from unexpected lateral directions but too far away for the first Tiger's weapon set to effectively engage. That said I don't think it would translate that well to N4, it was something I ran large combat groups with.
Sorry for resurrecting this, but would you be on board with getting them back? I mean, they arn't all that better without scatter and I think I saw @Triumph 's Tiger MSR conversion and I think its sweet and also last year I got my hands on Hellcat HMG whose hands should have been used in a conversion but he looked so sexy I kept him around ^^
With all the Parachutist (DZ) floating around, I don't even think these would be all that disruptive. And MSR Tiger could be fun. Not great, but fun and niche.
Sniper Tiger was a weird outlier (and never got a miniature), and HMGs to spitfires were most likely HMG ranges getting nerfed wrt AD suitability.
This ^ I don't think bringing them back would impact the game (all that much), but it's nice to have options, especially fun options. I was browsing Conversion thread! and I saw that bunch of people did Tiger MSR conversion and I'm really sad about them not getting to play it ^^' Did a forum poll ever made CB do/change something?
Do you mean a CB poll where they ask which would be a preferred thing? Or a fan-poll stating why X or Why is not broken and why was it taken away?
It startet in N3. Several AD Troops lost their HMG and few could keep theirs, Hellcat, Garuda and the Tiger MSR. With N4 they cleaned it up completly. Too sad, they also removed HMG variant of Daofei, which was released with RV Beyond :-( I think infiltrated HMG was used too often and go OP therefore ... sure not. So its a general design thing.
