With the clarification to Yuan yuans not receiving their irregular order on the turn they drop in, is it worth spamming them at full AVA 4? I'm thinking that it might be better to just take 2 and have them start on the board, maybe backed up by 2 desperados if you to get into the midfield faster. What is everyone else planning?

I used to think you should take 3 because even if the opponent brought an EVO you'd have an expected value of at least one landing where you need it. I don't think I can run 3 anymore. Honestly I think I might only run 1 if I even take them at all.

If you want to start them on the board, then I don't see any reason not to use the Desparadoes instead. They are so busted for their points, especially the 5B assault pistol who also carries smoke and a Chain Rifle.

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but if a troop was so good that you were always bringing max AVA 4 of it, it was probably not well balanced relative to other options.

I don't think any of the lists posted on this forum since N4 have max AVA 4 Yuan Yuans. In N3 it was admittedly strong, though I think rare to see because the factions aren't very popular. The 15 slot limit and EVO changes toned them down a lot in N4. I thought they were in a good place before the FAQ nerf compared to what I see as their direct competitors Desperados, Bashi, Libertos.

Where does it say it? I can't find it? If this is the case then I'd never combat jump them. It's just stupid. I'd probably take desperado instead however they have a big silo which can be troublesome at times. YY can still be good deploying regularly and used to provide smoke. They are also good for back field defense against opponent combat jumpers. They are also not bad to keep near the obvious Lt. as a "guard" against impersonators and such. For smoke there's also Yojimbo and his Koalas.

Top of page 5 in the N4 FAQ pdf:

If a Trooper uses an Airborne Deployment Skill to deploy onto the table via a Coordinated Order or
an Impetuous activation, what happens to their own Order?
In this situation they will lose their own Order.

IJW had previously recommended you play it like in N3 here, but the FAQ specifically calls out impetuous.

I don't think they're worth taking as a corner guard over Desperados any more, but a smoke equipped Combat Jump/Parachutist still has a lot of utility.

Not worth taking 4 every game unless you're doing a meme list, but that's probably a good thing overall.

Considering how cheap they where they didn't really compete as much complemented other things, if we look at what it competes with in Ikari it was mostly Desperadoes and maybe Bashi Bazuks but even with how powerful they where in n3 I still brought Desperadoes and Bashis along side the YYs in most of my Ikari lists.

And as others have said, max AVA was mostly a meme and most lists had 2 or 3.

They where also a very defining feature of Ikari along with the Keisotsu/Tanko fireteam. Ikari was never a particularly strong faction in N3 and even before this nerf Ikari was voted to be a one of the worst factions in N4 in VaulSC poll.
