WIP Dao Fei And again, the yellow played a trick with me. It’s the fourth or fifth shade I created so far and my intent was to recreate the style on my crane. :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ok, Ok I got it. It’s just that playing with colors don’t is not that natural to me yet. And I’m really critic about my work, but won’t complain more I promise. ;) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just finished the badass wu ming. New yellow, not so good pictures (smart phone). Hope you like it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Maybe I should consider renaming my thread as this is my second jsa model posting and I have some other faction models waiting to be painted as well. Without further ado here is my version of the oniwaban. The idea for the color scheme came from the uprising book obviously. I like to think that mine is closer to the art than the official used to promote the jsa box ;) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Lookin' good! Love the subtle OSL from the blade and glow effects on the myo-fiber too. It does feel just like the Uprising art! By the way, it's really cool to see the progressive difference in the yellows that you are using. I like the one you used on the Wu Ming a lot more than the Daofei's colder yellow. Would you mind sharing the color recipe/paints for the Wu Ming?
Thanks! With the wu ming I tried the the colors posted by @Azard this time and must add I like them a lot. You should give it a try too, for me it may be a bit late to change the main colors for all squads but I’m thinking on it. Oh here is the link: Azard's tutorial: Yu Jing Yellow/ Orange. Holy cow, that tutorial is AMAZING. Thanks for pointing it out, and @Azard ia a total rockstar for putting that up. I've been trying to get the right yellow/orange shade for my construvtion-crew-with-guns look for Corregidor, and this is definitely it. I wonder if a mild orange wash/glaze might bring the stuff that you have in the other scheme towards this one a bit without a ton of work?
Putting my tutorial to good work! Great job! Glad you guys are getting some use out of it, I'm going to try to do some more in the near future.
Are those unit badges freehand?!? Where's the :nosebleed: emoji on this forum??? I really like it, but that white highlight on the faceplate is kinda rough... Color wheel suggests green for the blade.
Jeah, those badges are freehand. I should do them more maybe [emoji4] I sometimes struggle with white, but who doesn’t? [emoji6] And jeah that color composition on the kuroshi is always felt a bit off but I decided to keep her that way. Let’s just say my artistic skills (including color composition) are self taught. Maybe next time [emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
