But look at it this way, now it's an "opportunity" to play with Sophotech, Dakini, and Garuda, all of which would be great for this mission. They move super fast to get to the civilians, Dakini also have Mimetisim which is great. The Garuda will be great to land in his DZ to make him have deal with it rather than going for the Civilians. Or take out any that managed to Synch with one and get it back. Another that you can use in ISS but not in Vanilla is the CSU. It's a lot of fun when you roll up the extra moment on the meta chemistry! :) I threw in a Bounty Hunter too since they are regular now in ISS.

Dakini and Garuda can't declare CivEvac, though, because they are REM.

 

Also, in rescue the exclusion zone is a difficult terrain, so sophotect and rems would only move at 4/4.

As for the list building, here's few things to consider:

- The su-jian has multiterrain on it's mobility form, and since it's an HI it can synchronize civilian, making it the perfect rescuer for this mission.
- The datatracker benefits from an additional order in this mission. A nice little combo is to put Sun tze in your datatracker's group to give him up to 12 orders.

Those two usually make a nice team, and since your Su-jian will do all the heavy lifting in this mission you REALLY want to deploy him in the right spot.

Now as for ISS vs vanilla, it really is a matter of preference. More kuang-shis or monks? Access to MSV2 fireteam for anti-smoke defense, or rely on mines and mad-traps?

Start with Sun Tze, a Su-jian spitfire and 4 kuang-shis + controller in one group, then play a bit with army until you find something that you like!

 

That's got the mission half sewn up - with a Su Jian and 10-12 orders in one group you have a great quarterback.

The other half of the mission is to figure out how you stop the opponent running away with their own civilians. ISS can take 3 TR remotes, which can make a pretty nasty crossfire across the hostage area and are harder to knock out early as high burst weapons firing across the exclusion zone have lower burst than normal. If you take a sophotect, some hackers for assisted fire and some yudbots, you can make those TR bots pretty nasty customers and a huge order sync to completely remove.

Yu Jing can take Gui Lang minelayers to stink up midfield with mines and Yu Jing and ISS can both sneak a few madtraps onto the board so they will hit anything that gets as far as trying a civevac roll.

 

Arg forgot the new mission rules! I still like the Sophotech though. It can fix Suzie too!

Madtraps! Either with the Zhanying or maybe a Kanren. Then a 8pt baggage bot to keep putting them out!

Ideally we go for deployment/second turn. But first turn could involve a forward infiltrate roll from the ninja to try steal a civvie with smoke cover from the CG.
The main thrust is to identify your opponents best rescue opportunity and hac tao it when they're advancing mid-field. Between mines, camo markers, kuang shi, the sniper and difficult terrain/saturation your opponent should have a tough time getting to the su jian who is the data tracker.

Covered deployment zone arround enemy civilians with mad traps, 1 single mine and Aida's viral mines after, runing with daofei and ruishi clearing the way for the ninja and picking with her 2 civilians at same time, then back with her as much if possible quickly or covered, tiger soldier to bring on the 2rd or last turn to kill or rescue any civilian on the enemy deployement, or just start with her on the first turn and kill a bunch of orders... Aida probably best datatracker on this list, all arround her and nice covered to recovering some civilians or deploy more mines for free with dt. free order.

Same triggers on ISS with ninja + su jian, but you have more orders, Miranda as a datatracker picking some civilians back from the su jian, or just play for clear the zones with x2 ruishi on the same group and Sujian in other. Lacks of the zone control mines only with madtraps from the kanren... but you have some kuangshis for that. Maybe if you have good dice roll on boty2 for the bounty hunter and gains the ODD equipment, just run with him with Miranda and helping to clear and pick more civilians. I don't know if Xi Zhuang can run with the 3rd special order from the past event, maybe if it works he can bring 3 orders: 1regular+2irregular orders as datatracker (from the past event and the new from the datatracker scenario) im not sure if it works this.

This mission wants a some bunch of orders to run fast as possible, Su jian want's the favourite run for that, but if you going on Vanilla ill suggest using Daofei, he can be deployed more far than Su jian you have some smokes and the first run with Su jian to get out on the deploy zone can be risky if you can't see some lines of fire, in this case from the Daofei he can go with camo marker as the last chance if you fails the smoke templates on the controler and monks, you have nice smokes and maybe not some SWC on heavy support weapons like HRL or ML can't be good if your enemy runs with a civilian and using the template to killing him on behind cover as the last desperate resource like the HI profiles.

 

I wouldn't normally recommend a daofei due to the exclusion zone. You're only getting an extra 4 inches with the points paid for infiltration.

The same goes for forward deploying and infiltration.

Difficult terrain makes the tigers job pretty much only to kill.
