Hello everybody! I've been painting my bro-in-law's Combined Army as of late and wanted to share some progress. This was suppose to be a quick paint job, but since he's been busy with work and life I've been able to keep them on my painting table for longer. So I've been taking the time to practice technique.

    I hope you enjoy!

    First up the ol' Avatar:

Took a bit to get back to painting models... I've been assembling a HUGE collection of terrain for our local game store.

    Another drone!

I also painted some scatter terrain:

@xammy I can't believe I haven't come across this thread before. You have done a great job on these models. Plus you're not hte only one who like the old Avatar. I think that model blows the newer sculpt out of the water.

@Golem2God thank you! I really like the old Avatar, it almost feels like a completely different TAG from the new one.

Agreed. The old Avatar is completely different from new. They could easily be two separate T.A.G.s in the same faction.

    And now the Maakrep:

I'm feeling pretty productive as of late. Turns out when your PC goes out, it frees up a ton of hobby time that would have been spent on video games.

So many posts and I just realised you are using some kind of water effect on the bases.

It's not a real water effect. I wanted something that looked alien, alive and akin to algae. The wash and ink I used is glossy so it just adds to that wet look. I'm planning on hitting it with a varnish that will make them look more satin.

The base has a fine pumas paste that I used to give it a wavy texture then added sand for rocks. After that I painted it a light yellow, then washed it with a turquoise ink sometimes mixed with a blue wash or black depending on the shadows I was trying to make. Then I came back with that desaturated green grey color to paint the rocks where it had "dried" out.

Looks great, and very far from an Earthlike planet.
