Hello again, Something I have been thinking about for a few weeks in preparation for a tournament at the end of August. I understand the White Noise hacking program creates a white noise zone within the hackers repeater area the size of a circular template with infinite height. EFFECTS ► The White Noise Hacking Program generates a White Noise Zone the size of a Circular Template and with infinite height. ► On a successful Normal WIP Roll, the Hacker may place the Circular Template representing the White Noise Zone inside their Hacking Area at the end of the Order. ► The Circular Template must be totally inside the Hacking Area. ► The effects of this Program persist until the start of the States Phase, at which point you must remove the Circular Template. ► While the Circular Template is on the game table, the Program’s NFB Label applies to the Hacker, so they cannot use or apply any other Skill, piece of Equipment, or Hacking Program that has the NFB Label, for example Mimetism, Albedo, Holoprojector etc. ► The range of this Program is the Hacker’s Hacking Area. Nowhere does it state that the white noise zone is fixed in place. My thoughts are this, if I create a white noise zone within a repeater that is on a remote e.g., Vostok; does that mean when I move the Vostok, the white noise zone moves in relation to it? For example, I have a Vostok facing towards my opponent's deployment zone. I create a white noise zone within the Vostok's repeater ZoC, in front of the Vostok between the Vostok and the enemy. I move my Vostok directly left to gain LoF to an enemy trooper. Does the white noise zone stay in front of the Vostok (relative to Vostok) and allows me to shoot through the zone. Or, does the white noise zone remain fixed in place where it was first created and does not move within the repeater ZoC of the Vostok? (Obviously the zone will disappear if the zone moves outside of the repeater ZoC, but for the above example, there is enough room for the zone to stay within the repeater ZoC but allow the Vostok LoF to an enemy trooper.)
But nothing in the rules says it does not either. It makes sense the white noise zone would not move for a deployable repeater because they are fixed game elements. However, repeaters that are on remotes, infantry, or TAG's move with the miniature. So the ZoC of the repeater moves too. Hence why I am asking for clarification. At the moment, I assume it does not move. But it can become an interesting tactic if the white noise zone were to move relative to the repeater. Allowing such troopers to bring a moveable white noise zone with them. For example, if I wanted to move a Moran past a sniper with MSV1, I could lay a white noise zone directly over the Moran, then move him from a piece of terrain to another and avoid being the target of an attack. It would be interesting what others think about it, and how they play it.
But the rules states what you are allowed to do, not the other way round. If the rules doesn't say that it moves, it does not.
Infinity ruleset belongs to the "permissive" category. That means it only allows what it explicitely says it allows (it's the same thing as a Constitution/Founding Letter/etc... for a country). Since nowhere in the rules states that deployed zones can be moved... (in fact, only the models and item markers can move!), it cannot.
I agree. It's a fixed spot. Also, if the repeater moves away (so it's no longer inside the ZoC of the hacker or repeater), it will stay where it is until the end of the turn.
