I just bought the red veil/beyond red veil + haqq model from the dire foes box off a mate. I've played a lot of nomads and aleph in the past, but had very few opponents who played haqq, and cannot quite figure out Haqq's thing

If I were looking for another 6-8 models to make a fun and reasonably balanced haqq force, what models should be my priorities. As this is a third force for me, the other thing that matters is getting models which are relatively new which will be fun to paint.

Right now I'm looking at hunzakut, muttawiahs, saladin, farzan BS, odalisque spitfire. Are these guys all viable and is there anything which is "must have" which I'm missing?

Hey there, big disclaimer that i'm by no means an experienced Haqq player, i'm only just new myself. As far as i know to answer your questions though:

    is x viable?
    • Hunzakut - Yes they seem viable, very cheap camo infiltrators with a FO option and mines. i'm least confident on this answer though
    • Muttawiahs - Ghazi are one of the best models in the game and i think they are a backbone of every Haqq force that is allowed to run them
    • Saladin - seems great to me. Strategos 3 is great. You can combo it with Fidays too.
    • Farzan - seems like a better Hunzakut to me, with three specialist options and a minelayer + being regular. just loses out on the cheap sniper aro value
    • Odalisque spitfire - yes with a big asterisk. i think they are really only used in QK. Vanilla has much stronger gunfighters for similiar costing such as the Mukhtar active response unit.
as far as models you are missing out on, you have a great base already, Tarik is the best rambo in haqq, Fidays are awesome, red veil + beyond gave you some awesome stuff. If i had to guess you might want to consider a mukhtar with red fury

As far as starter sets go, red veil is pretty good. I would say that all that’s needed is some specialists to round things out. The units in it that I don’t use are the Zhayedan (overcosted due to useless automedkit) and the Khawarij (too flimsy and expensive although perhaps you can get Milage out of the spitfire profile if you can’t afford Tarik). I don’t often use the Tuareg sniper but generally use the model as a hacker or doctor.

I’d always take at least 1 Camo infiltrator- either hunzakut, Farzan or Al Hawwa (Al Hawwa was amazing in ITS 9, slightly less so now I feel, but the FO profile is still a great button pusher). Which one depends on the rest of my list, but Farzan CoC is a common one as is Hunzakut grenade launcher. Daylami panzerfaust is great too- if you’re lucky enough to get off your deployment roll. They function as cheap roadblocks if you go second and throw-away attack pieces if going first.

HMG Djanbazan is great, especially when coupled with Ghazi smoke (which as most people will tell you are pretty much an auto-include).

I love the Lasiqs- both make excellent ARO units (something you kind of lack in that starter set)- sniper for sitting at the back and the viral rifle for getting to the mid board (easy in its X as they have forward deployment) and sitting in cover in suppression fire.

Saladin is good but I generally only use him when I want to field the Fiday.

I’d give the Odalisque a miss outside of the QK sectorial- there are better gunfighters out there- as Challenger has suggested, the new mukhtar is a good choice instead.

It’s worth pointing out that a lot of the models you have form the basis of the new Ramah task force sectorial- worth bearing in mind!
