Just a little disappointed that it’s been over a year since Sval has released and we still haven’t even seen a _dossier_ for Karhu. Let alone models. Another studio update today and it’s just MO releases as far as the eye can see. Karhu are a really important part of Sval and it’s a big big hole in the faction that we are still missing. CB, any updates on this? Even just a dossier so I can make some conversions?
They are hiding with the Tian Gou! They are going to betray both PanO and Yu Jing! When they finally do come out with one for them. You know they will be the least wanted one as well.
Both Kaldstrom sectorials feel a bit fucked and chucked. A bunch of new units with nothing to offer get models on release (Nokia, Viagra, Boyg, invalids of saint lazerus, Ye mao, Jing Qo) a handful of new units worth taking have no hint of a model on the horizon (Karhu, Tiangou), and internal balance that sees thematically significant units sidelined or not available (Nisse, Hac Tao, Zhanshi). Now after that messy affair there's not much indication of a second date, especially for SWF.
I painted the rest of my Pan O Kaldström: Two Locust, the Boyg and the Varger. I call them - except the Hacker - the at least used minis in SWF. I will use them, because I want, but when I do some list building for fun, the Varger and the Boyg are hard to integrate and the MMR Locust sounds nice, but he is a niche. The more I looked at the Varger Spitfire, the more I wish he has a Combi or K1 and add minelayer, sensor/parrot or FO/Mines :-) Sure for the pure albedo is the spitfire the right tool, but honestly, who is activly using albedo? You don´t put that in a list, just in case. And who will play a core of them? No look at the Karhu. Everyone want a B+1 Feuerbach and the Multi Profiles are all very useful and optimised to the bone. But no mini so far. I use my spec op (in a wise foresight I gave him a multi rifle) as a proxy.
You can use the "boyg" if you are a little short of SWC for some reason and you need some "heavy shot platform". Still, I'm with all of you, where is the "karhu"?? :D At least one of them. I guess they will come in a box, so maybe is this why is late.
Now that I think about it, you’re right. Tian Gou don’t have models either, and they are the glue that holds WB together. They are at least getting Shang Ji now, and the most requested profiles. I was pretty mad that we got the least interesting, least useful Vargar in the box. The HRL, Wildparrot and K1MMR profiles are all super useful toolboxes and would have been lovely to have. And we got another useless Locust that should have been a Multi Rifle Karhu. Damn shame.
Oh I will try him out, but he is still hard to fit, as he is expensive, not really an ARO piece (like the Yan Huo with B2 ARO) and not a real attacker, because B2 with BS14 is still only B2... I have made a fun list already, including a KoJ ML in a full fireteam, a Boyg and Okatavia - Missile party!
Tbh Tian Gou seem pretty useless in N4, they were definitely important in N3 but times have changed. Like in all honestly it could never get a model and not make a difference. SWF definitely should see that Karhu, it is easily the standout profile. I will say the Muhktar RF MSV2 is still waiting for a model, and it is the same stand-out profile that Karhu FB is, so it may be awhile.
Sorry, I though you are talking about boyg in general and I had in mind the mk12 version, the ML I wasn't capable of do something useful with him. If the range band where different in ML maybe we can have a good piece to "flank" the enemy and kill heavy pieces, but with 60-100 it is really hard to find a "good spot" to do that. Saludos.
His main use is to make AVA4 Zhanshi, a 5-man core in White Banner. Yes I know most will probably use Shang Jeeezus. But that can't always be the case. I think they made Z AVA4 to force you to take them or other wildcards. The jammer is great against things like Lt. killers but it's pretty expensive situational thing. The Red Fury with Madtraps seems okay but it has competition with others, especially in vanilla. At least I don't feel bad right now that the figure doesn't exist.
For now it looks like CB lost their plans how to release things. Karhu would be... one day! May be... if not Military Orders stuff... Or may be they are somewhere with Tian Gou :) Actually, it shows global problem with PanO. Or may be not only with PanO First Svalarheima was released. Then there was MO. Releases are going a little chaotic. I can’t see plan yet. CB annihilated old starters of Yu Jing and PanO. Releasing popular army of knights instead of finishing new one. Killing PanO and Yu Jing starters and giving us nothing like action packs. (I hate their two-player boxes. And beyond packs. I don’t like to buy what I don’t need.) Now it is not easy to gather Varuna, cause some units are only in Booster packs (buy what you don’t need too!) What’s next? Another discontinued sectorial? All this moments may be not that critical, may be, they are not big deal, but there are lots of gaps, that can’t be fixed with green stuff.
So now we know that CB hasn't even thought about creating designs for the unit yet. Which, to me, is just mindboggling. It seems to confirm that they have no plan whatsoever to release models for the profiles they create in any consistent, reasonable way, but simply go with whatever they feel like at the moment. "So, let's release this super amazing profile for this unit." "Sounds good. When will we release the model for it?" "I don't know. Sometime next year. Or the year after that. Or the year after that." "What?" "I just don't feel like designing it yet. Maybe I'll get around to it... next March." "It's March right now." "I know." "..." [two years later] "So, about that Karhu. Have you at least come up with a concept design for the unit yet?" "No. But I know what we should do instead. Design NEW SPACE MONKES!" "But... they already have an up-to-date and complete range... Unless you mean that one profile we also released over a year ago that's also still missing a model." "No no no. I mean let's throw out the entire range and create them from scratch." "But... why?"
