I was actually thinking of this on ym way to work this morning. Vanilla is changing more than any sectorial. Not only are we getting new units but 2/3s of our HI are changing in some way.

IMO, as of right now I'm not excited. I didn't play vanilla before and I probably still won't. There isn't enough to entice me to play vanilla over a sectorial. The reduced AVA of helots and Zulus are pretty much the nail in coffin for me as far as vanilla goes.

I'm happy I get one more cheap irregular order to abuse with Joan.

I still play vanilla from time to time. In the past i almost always had 2 crocmen in those lists. I guess now i will drop one for a Zulu + helot.

Also i like to run Joan in vanilla. More so than in MO to be honest. I use her for the irregular troops (even better with helot now) and even more so for the special coordinated order. That really helps to get the order efficiency up since i got no link teams.

I probably won't bring the regular sensor anymore and only use the Zulu Jammer profile.

Varuna Profiles are neat and all that, but I'm still missing some key components to build Vanilla lists, mainly on the MO side.

Joan is down to one Troop Profile, no more seperate V2. She just got a new sculpt so I want to see how that works out.

With MO getting rid of Fusiliers they're forced to take a fairly obvious/aggressive Lt. which makes me wonder about getting a CoC option along the way somewhere, which would have a lot of impact for Joan and TAG Lts.
Several TAGs also get revamped or new Profiles. At least the Squalo and Seraph, potentially also the Cutter.

The combiation of Mercs (Krakots...) and Minelayer+Sensor Regulars as cheap and effective support troops for strong solo pieces will always remain a very good argument for Vanilla. A Nisse HMG is always a welcome option to add a reliable secondary gunner on top.
One Helot still means every Marker in your DZ could be one, which also makes the Regular Minelayer a lot scarier for Vanilla.

    For now we have:
    - Santiago uber toolboxes for ITS
    - straight up better Hospitaler Doc
    - Montesas opening an entirely new Tactical option for Assault and Button Pushing
    - a straight up better AD troop disregarding AD4 Combat Jump
    - Marker shell games with Neurokinetic Helots and Jammers are on a whole other level
    - a bunch of low SWC combat options to the mix

Vanilla PanO becomes incredibly tough to assail. Two Acon Regular minelayers, two Auxilia, Cobra Jammer, Helot, Warcor Flash Pulse, Tech Bee Flash Pulse is quite strong considering there's no link team in there.

We have almost as much Sensor as TAK now. Nothing rivals the sheer insanity of Antipodes for mass-discovering Camo Tokens, but we've become very good infantry-wielders of Sensor, and now have the best Triangulated Fire unit in the game.

The parrot may not be an Auxbot, but it's certainly a spiritual successor in terms of putting a template where it hurts most without risking a unit at all. Attack waves with Auxbots and Parrots can apply templates where they'll hurt the most.

The Cobra as a fairly cheap Camo LT is nice for those missions where your LT needs to stay alive. Camo, Jammer AROs and a mine or two for support is very hard to crack.

Mentioned of course, but the Montessa bike is something completely new. I won't avoid taking PanO to Looting & Sabotage tournaments now.

MO is definitely teed up to make better contributions to Vanilla. We're seeing what we hoped for, in terms of some distinct profiles that help delineate between the various Orders.

I'll agree with @Teslarod that I'm still a bit wary of Vanilla PanO, but I think it's a fantastic step in the right direction. I'm cautiously optimistic, and certainly very happy for Vanilla players who can put these good changes to use.

Actually it seems like Vanilla does not get the Paramedic profile. In the video Carlos mentioned that the respective sectorials would receive that particular option, which seems to be corroborated by the army builder.

I can see a problem in that, again, Joan got a buff
She gets more cheap irregulars to convert, more camo to coordinate re-camo, one of our best units in Vainilla (Nisses HMG) was a must in her lists and also got buffed.... Vainilla is truly becoming the real Joan sectorial

Vanilla pano is becoming distinct from NCA which is strictly better. It often felt like NCA plus a few options minus link team. The changes to MO and Varuna have definitely shaken up how I will be looking at Vanilla lists.

The sectorial list in last week's MO video was missing Joan v2 but it was completely filled and are also notoriously unreliable.

I just assumed it was referring to both profiles sharing an AVA.

Yeah that's what my money is on.
However that should mean she gets an unified Profile as far as stats are concerned. Wonder what happens to her PH, ARM and MOV there.

I would rather put my money on CB messing up the chart than Joan being unified ;P

But, back onto the OP, I think that Vanilla is getting substantially stronger.

I'm dedicated to Vanilla this year, and it's been pretty rough. There's just not a lot of real flexibility (and I'm sad I didn't get my chance to run the Montesa LGL before it went away).

Things will be better, a LOT better.

But I think that Vanilla PanOceania will still be sitting below its sectorials overall.

They could just write in (ARM4, MOV6-2) on the one profile the way they've written in skills and equipement on other profiles in the past. The PH difference has always confused me a bit honestly

There is no point to revamp both profiles after you've released a sculpt for each like, a month ago? I'm with @eciu , they filled the roster so "skinny" v2 Joan couldn't fit in the photo.

The current army list also only has one entry for Joan, with a note to say V1 or V2. I think people are reading a bit too much into this.

It does says "V1 or V2" there, but still, im also in the camp of i think they wont unify them, probably just give V2 a EXP CCW Lt. and nothing more
open to be surprised to a CB "the data show that V2 is not used even by it´s mother, so V1 now has the Spitfire option and the other one is scraped"
