Brawlers, the common troop between NA2 that people who preordered the books (like me) will have at least two of.

Which company uses them the best? Which one has the least use for them*? How do you use them? Best Brawler stories?

    *Foreign Company, duh.

My experiences with them are in DBS, I'm not sure if these work in Foreign company.
    • The haris with and HRL & specialist. They don't appear to be a be a threat on the table because they are the 'cheap' guys, but almost always gets it points back.
    • MSV2 sniper in 5 man link is just a scary ARO piece. the only thing that has a chance to sneak past is eclipse grenades. The BS 18 is hard to beat. I used to build my links specifically with 6 models, just so I can have it in a great spot to ARO turn 1, then reform without it to before pushing forward.

Dashat has the most options for them, they can be part of Core and Harris teams paired with characters, HI, Remotes and Bounty Hunters without much restrictions. Plus Dashat has lots of units with Smoke so the MSV2 Brawler has an easy time.

That cheap Assault Hacker is a pretty easy way to "authorize" REMs and allow you to take them in your list. AHD and SMG is a pretty good toolkit too, especially for less than 20 points.

The MSV2 (very rightly) gets a ton of attention. But being able to embed a Doctor or Engineer in a link is useful too.

he's our only specop option, and doesn't link with anyone :'(

update is still new, FC might have securitate and bolts spec-ops too, as the spec-ops is a normal* model in the securitate and bolts loadout table (and shares AVA i guess).
*without any note about that loadout being restricted to specific sectorial/factions.

My experiences are all with ikari:
    As your wip12 LT?
Im turned off from this option recently in favour of the keisotsu LT but as one of only 2 options, and the only 0SWC option sometimes you want that brawler LT.

    As your assault hacker?
In my ITS B list Ive been using the assault hacker brawler in a tanko haris (or not in the haris... as the situation demands). I like it quite a bit as a hacker that can advance up the board tapping hacking related consoles on WIP15 B2, respectable armour and BS makes it toolbox specialist that isnt hopeless and at 17pts its insanely efficient. Such a cheap option allows me to offer a diverse hacking game if I want it and exists in a list with no less than 7 repeaters.

    As your MSV 2 sniper?
5 man link with tanko and 3 keisotsu... works pretty good, Ive mangled my first turn against this so I can confirm its effective (shocking I know). Dont use it myself.

None of these work in Foreign Company because Brawlers there are 1. AVA 1 and 2. non-linkable with anyone. They're a dead unit.

The MSV2 Sniper is going to be your most useful piece in ForCo. It's the only MSV2 in the faction, and will be helpful for keeping warbands from overrunning your lines.

I don't know if I agree with this - an unlinked, non-marker state sniper is a risky ARO. If you're deploying in such a way so that you can see warbands from the start of the board, then he might be able to see you with his HMG as well. Obviously my opinion only!

My preference for Forco warband defense (in order of efficiency) - 1.) go first! or 2.) three linked CSUs with rifles/nanopulsers plus the dual warcors aggressively looking at everything that comes past the mid-point mark of the table. Throw in a zero minelayer and you probably have enough to delay all but the most disgusting Dashhat or Caledonia lists. And I don't think Forco has the horsepower to roll with those guys so I wouldn't sweat it.

Obviously none of that applies to Mcmurragh but a single unlinked MSV sniper isn't going to stop him either. I've played against that guy with dual intruder snipers for laughs and he still often manages to reach my DZ!

For Starco, I often used a brawler Harris with lieutenant, Harris and CSU. Mostly because there weren't many better options for the lieutenant and they actually weren't a bad turn 3 objective grabber or attacker. Usually by turn 3 there's specialists or other light troops standing around the mid-field and a link of BS12 shotgun/rifles that's been ignored all game can put a dent in that. Plus they're not bad for ARO duty at close range.

I also played around with swapping out the CSU with the cheap rocket launcher for better ARO. It did what was expected but nothing amazing. I think the CSU was probably the better option as it gave the specialist and honestly, the rocket launcher might get you in trouble as you might be tempted to leave it out to ARO against enemies it has no business fighting.

Taking the options obviously limited your use of the MSV sniper. They were probably not better than that, but gave a bit of variety.

Snipers aren't great AROs, full stop. Useful, and least hurt by the burst penalty for ARO, but still not where you really want to be using a sniper. Snipers are active-turn hunters, not ARO turrets!

Eh, they’re hybrid role really, decent ARO, decent active turn, not the best choice at either. They are your best option to stop Mutts from walking up and jamming all your toys. Best tip is to blow up the first ones you can that are advancing up the table, then dodge prone against the last before they start using their non-impetuous orders.

They work differently for each company to be honest, they fill key roles as link teams, specialists, muscle, depends on the case.

Not sure on Foreign Company I have not seriously played with them yet.

I came to the conclusion that Dashat has the best use for Brawlers, as it allows you to build this kind of abomination, taking advantage of their many link options and Wildcards:

Make sure to come back with a batrep; I would have to proxy almost all of that list.
