So I have been playing with @khepri 's dice calculator and I was surprised by the power of viral weaponry on B13 platforms. Looking at the math, the Viral Rifle Bokhtar seemed to outperform the Redfury Bokhtar in %chance to inflict 1 or more wounds versus a wide variety of targets, if you are in the rifle's ideal range band. I really thought the burst difference would make more of a difference, but it really did not. The viral rifle seems to do work. Below is a brief summary of the results I captured versus the following targets in Rifle Range from cover:

    • Basic Warband (PH13, ARM 0, BTS 0) Dodging in the open
      • Viral Rifle: 80.1% chance to inflict 1 or more wounds Versus 19.9% Failure
      • Red Fury: 76.1% chance to inflict 1 or more wounds Versus 23.9% Failure
    • Basic Light Infantry (BS 11, ARM 1, BTS 0, Combi-rifle) Shooting Back from Cover
      • Viral Rifle: 76.9% chance to inflict 1 or more wounds Versus 19.4%Nothing happens and 3.7% chance to have 1 or more wounds suffered back.
      • Red Fury: 67.4% chance to inflict 1 or more wounds Versus 29.7% Nothing happens and 2.9% chance to have 1 or more wounds suffered back.
    • Basic Heavy Infantry ((BS 13, ARM 3, BTS 3, Combi-rifle) Shooting Back from Cover
      • Viral Rifle: 62.8% chance to inflict 1 or more wounds (32.5% 2+Wounds) Versus 32.4% Nothing happens and 4.8% chance to have 1 or more wounds suffered back.
      • Red Fury: 54.5% chance to inflict 1 or more wounds (18.6% 2+Wounds) Versus 41.8% Nothing happens and 3.7% chance to have 1 or more wounds suffered back.
    • Advanced Heavy Infantry ((BS 14, ARM 4, BTS 6, Combi-rifle) Shooting Back from Cover
      • Viral Rifle: 43.3% chance to inflict 1 or more wounds (13.8% 2+Wounds) Versus 51.1% Nothing happens and 5.6% chance to have 1 or more wounds suffered back.
      • Red Fury: 47.1% chance to inflict 1 or more wounds (13.7% 2+Wounds) Versus 48.6% Nothing happens and 4.3% chance to have 1 or more wounds suffered back.
Advaned Heavy Infantry is only one that the Red Fury beats the Viral Rifle. BTS 6 is a hard nut to crack.

I also ran the numbers against some Infamous units:
    • Phoenix (Mimetism -6, BS 13, Arm 2, BTS 3, Heavy Rocket Launcher) Non-Pure Linked Shooting Back from Cover
      • Viral Rifle: 49.7% chance to inflict 1 or more wounds (22.3% 2+Wounds) Versus 37.0% Nothing happens and 13.3% chance to have 1 or more wounds suffered back.
      • Red Fury: 47.3% chance to inflict 1 or more wounds (14.8% 2+Wounds) Versus 42.1% Nothing happens and 10.6% chance to have 1 or more wounds suffered back.
    • Polaris Bearpode (PH 16, ARM 5, BTS 0) Dodging in the open
      • Viral Rifle: 69.1% chance to inflict 1 or more wounds (55.3% 2+Wounds) Versus 30.9% Failure
      • Red Fury: 53.5% chance to inflict 1 or more wounds (21.6% 2+Wounds) Versus 46.5% Failure

The major caveat, of course, is range. The Redfury allows you to easily outrange targets and keeps you safer. But I was surprised that the viral rifle compared so well. The fact that it is a specialist with D-charges is pretty great as well.

Has anyone had good experiences with the Viral Bokhtar?

For the moment I havenĀ“t too much success as a "kill machine", Bokthar did more work as specialist or "survivor". But probably next weeks I will have the chance to play it a little more, so I will let you know. It has too an effect against Doggies and Bears, all of them wants to be far away from Bokthar :)
