So I'm having a little bit of a hard time trying to figure out how to approach a Vanilla Rescue list. My gut says a list with Nagas and Dasyu for the terrain skills, but I'm not sure about the rest. Does anyone have any thoughts?
That was my first thought., but I'm a little unsure about the orders needed for the mission. Is a single CG enough? I could go with a double Zayin Marut list I suppose. I played this mission a few times and here are my thoughts : - Achilles lieutenant is good to clean up the ARO piece your opponent brought and he can rescue one civilian - mk5 make a good datatracker. He doesn't have multiterrain but start at the limit of the exclusion zone so don't care. He is a resilient specialist so he can rescue 2 civilians for max victory points (with 2 civilians on your datatracker on the good area you have more or less won the game) - for once, it can be worth trying to infiltrate your MK2 hacker - 1 naga minelayers and zaying are good to defend your civilian - naga are good to take more civilians - coordinated order are good to move Achilles and specialists up the board For example : Rescue ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 10 ACHILLES Lieutenant Spitfire, Nanopulser / Pistol, EXP CCW. So I've never actually fielded Achilles, but do like this thought if for no other reason than to finally give him some table time. I'm guessing that you would want to Rambo him after a civilian and bring it back on your first turn before he goes Frenzy while also clearing up any units you want to make the path for Scylla or a Naga to get another one?
This is the best case scenario : Achilles and MK5 are deployed on the same side, Scylla is in a defensive position in total cover, her bot are placed ready to defend the hostages Step 1 : Achilles + nagas and mk5 move in coordinated order as far as they can without generating ARO. nagas take defensive position around the middle, mk5 place himself to take two hostage and Achilles place himself to remove ARO defending these hostage (2 orders) Step 2 : using lieutenant order + a few others achilles kill the ARO piece protecting the 2 hostages the take defensive position (2/3 orders + lieutenant) Step 3 : mk5 take the hostage and hide as close as possible to my DZ (5/6 orders for full retreat) Step 4 : Scylla use cybermask I skip Step 3 and do it turn 2 if I have not enough order after step 2. Once the mk5 is hidden with 2 hostages in the good area (one in DZ, one in dead zone), I focus on defense and using Achilles to put my opponent in retreat before he can take my hostages. If possible I grab one more hostage with whoever is available to get full points. Once I did a similar list but had a spec-obs as chain of command so I took drakios instead of the myrmidon officier and used him for first turn strike instead of Achilles (my opponent played steel phalanx with Agema for ORA)
That's what I was thinking too. Thanks. I might make a slight adjustment to get a Danavas in there instead of the minelayer Naga and take the mono Naga instead of the FO. The assistance for Achilles and added functionality seems like a decent idea and I would still have Scylla and a Naga for terrain rules if something goes wrong.
And the similarities between this mission and Unmasking just clicked. I was trying to make a list work for both Unmasking and Transmission Matrix.
