Vanilla haqq advice: order ratio

    I have been playing ISS for a while and am keen to play with my haqq again.

    The way I see it, a lot of the strength comes in their cheap thrills with irregular orders: mutts, hunzakuts, bazouks, daylami.

    However, this leaves am issue with having enough regular orders to do something with.

    How do other players mix their groups?

    I am looking at running 2 groups with approx 6 regular and 2-3 irregular orders reach.
    Generally I use ghulams and naffatuns for my cheap orders.

    A list works be something like (depending on mission):

    I love rolling one regular group with thicc bois like DJbazans, Azrails or Fasids, while having a second group filled with Daylamis, Mutts and Kums. Open the wound with the cheap guys, follow into it with your swc platforms.

    Honestly I would never have less thatn 8 regular orders in a group. Our irregulars are great at trading, that is, dyeing and killing something worth more points. The 8 regular orders means you can do that and have orders left to get things done.

    My general approach as well. Recently, I've run 4 mutts, 2 panzerfaust daylami (7pt noninfiltrating), a hafza LT disguised as a ghulam doctor, and a Laqiq Sniper in ARO. The second command group is pretty much on autopilot. I can use the regular orders to suppress a Mutt's impetuous order, reposition the sniper, etc, but not enough orders to really hunt with the Lasiq.

    I think next time, I might move one mutt or Bashi into the main group, so if I see a mutt rambo opportunity, I can take it. Mutts seem for some reason to be a priority target for my opponents (come on, dude, you're wasting orders on a five point model) and a Mutt will go dogged, so will open a hole in my first order pool to command-token over the Lasiq and/or Lt to keep that order pool full.

    Depends if I have some kind of “centerpiece” unit like Tarik or a Fiday which I will need to fuel orders. If so, their combat group should have 9 or 10 regular orders. With units like these, I will likely take first turn if possible, and need to account for the opponent probably knocking off 2 orders from my primary combat group.

    Yes but they really should cost 15-20 points, but lets leave that alone.

    Why bother with the bashi? he only has one order to use when he comes on and best has 2 orderd to do anything. I wouldfind a way to get the SMG bashi so you can at least get suppression going with him.

    I agree, however you should ask @Bassie. This is just my take on their list, with the exact same profiles rearranged with my preference of order spread.

    I would advise to put the Doc in the second group, so that his orders for doctoring wont drain orders from the main group.

    That's an idea. I personally would like that a lot better if the Bashi were dropped to an SMG to fit in a Nasmat. As is, she will have to do a bunch of leg work to get to people and I would prefer she have some better access to Combined Orders.

    I agree with Mike on the move a mutt over idea. I usually take four mutts myself, and I try to place two in each group I take. Personally, I usually have 8 regulars in my primary, with the mitts being two irregular, and the second group is between four and six total orders, with 2 to 3 of those being irregular. I put ARO models, like snipers, in group two, where they are basically cheerleaders for the more aggressive pieces, like the mutts in this example.
