USAriadna Box set expansion

    Hello all!

    I'm looking into getting into the game and I love the feel of ariadna and the army box set seems perfect but I'm not sure how many points it is. can any vets give me some tips on how to push it to the 300 range? preferably on a budget if possible. and are there any "dud" models that come in the box? thanks in advanced!

    There arn't any "dud" models in the box, If you grab the Minutemen box and a Blackjack (either version but i've gone HMG on this list) you'll get a 300 point list that's limited, but isn't terrible:

    You can play around with how you divide up the combat groups a couple ways, but you'll want the Minutemen all in the same group to use them as a fireteam. You can also drop medkits and forward observers if you don't need specialists, that'll give you points to get a second AP rifle MM and you can switch the LT to a grunt for the shell game...

    I'd sooner get Marauders than Minutemen (the latter are weak and the former can also form a Haris).

    Hardcase is good, as is the Airborne Ranger and Desperadoes. You also should get the Grunt special weapons box, you'll rarely use less than 6 grunts anyway.

    I'd avoid the Unknown Ranger and Van Zant if you're just starting out. You also have a Maverick in the box so you can avoid the Maverick box or buy it last. Also Rosie can be one of the last purchases (Dire Foes Grunt)

    Imo the only 'dud' model in the big USARF box is the werewolf, but it works for some people. I just think it's too expensive and not terribly exciting.

    The USARF Army box got me around 145 points but it depends on how you want to tailor the loadouts.

    so here is what I've come to thanks to everyone's advice. minutemen won out vs the marauders do to mobility and flexibility. I'm not a fan of the blackjack model but may get one later on if I expand beyond this.

    After I saw this thread, I too decided to see what my expanded USARF force could look like. I took a bit of a different approach with mine. I chose the marauders over the minutemen as I chose to run a Grunt Core and a Marauder Haris for two fireteams.

    So I was playing around with the idea of buying 2 USAriadna boxes because the models seem like a good deal and the extra bits would be helpful (terrain/dice/etc) and came up with this list of what I think is pure silliness. Group 1 is the "core" group and can utilize any of the 8 models to make a core fireteam depending on the mission and what you need to get done. group 2 has all of the models with impetuous and camo with a haris of flamethrowers to help utilize the slightly lower order pool. the entire list has 6 specialists and the Lt can easily be hidden as the WP of the grunts and the minutemen is the same, and there are 2 copies of each. will it win? possibly. all the time? doubtful. is it fun? looks like it lol.
