During this season and the two previous ones, Types of Operations were established.
These Types of Operations group the missions in three blocks, so the selectable missions for a tournament are delimited by the Type of Operation.

ITS Season 10 is close, so I would like to know what do you think about keeping the Types of Operation or returning to a single list of missions, where all are available for your choice.

I like that you offered us the poll, but consider adding "Other" and "Don't have a preference" as options.

For example, I could see as an interesting possibility to have a type where two of the missions have to be selected from a smaller list of missions (and maybe have more than 3 types on offer), and third cannot be from that list, thus providing some guidance for mission selection but allowing also flexibility to the TOs.

I like the idea of Types of Operations, it certainly helps when putting lists together for tournaments and there is enough flexibility in the choices that TOs can vary the experience sufficiently.
I'd love to see linked narrative missions usable in a tournament setting. Such as the number of civilians evacuated in Rescue impacting the objectives of a (specific) follow up mission.

Keep the types, but also ad a new column of missions with objective rooms, and one with missions that are deliberately chosen to require different lists so people will have to play at least one round without the optimal list.

I think there should be indication of type of operation in mission description, to make it easier to choose if I want to have one type, but no restriction on choosing.

Community should police itself. TO's are there for their communities and should have this kind of decission in their own hands and not regulated by confusing rules. The less confusion the better for everyone. I vote 'bomb Types of Operation' to hell.

I really disliked the "Type of Operation" thing from day one, because I dont like that kind of limitations. Its so much more interesting to get to choose from all Missions and not just a third of them for a tournament, because missions wont be repeated as much over the course of several tournaments. With one big list TOs can still choose similar missions if wanted, so there is no damage done, if the Types of Operation are abandoned.

The groupings as of now lead to very boring tournament setups. I'd rather have a good mix than purely combat or specialist oriented tournaments. Joint Operations is also very lackluster at the moment because it omits the straight forward combat missions and is mostly focussed on specialist and zone control missions without much shooting required. So it's just a disguised Special Operations Category lacking some of the better specialist missions for me.

If I could freely choose, I'd drop all restrictions, so it is up to the TO what missions he picks.

I have this same sentiment. I noticed in the last few ITS tourneys I participated that I could basically use the same list over and over again and it wouldn't have any difficulty, as my local TO always picks Joint Operations. I really think it should be much more interesting to allow the TOs to pick any mission from the 24 options to form the lineup.

also, @HellLois, there's a slight typo on the poll:

'One Unique list of missions' should be 'one single list of missions'.

'Unique' gives the idea the next list will be completely different from all the ones before and after it and that there will never be anything like it again.

The separation of objective and kill missions serve a secondary purpose, a list of missions to randomly roll when not playing ITS missions the problem was always the hybrid list that never managed to deliver true hybrid missions.

Personally I like the operations. My local game group rarely repeats missions, but instead I plan in advance so that every mission gets played at least once a season. The operation type is nice because some of the missions have such drastically different objectives that by grouping them into operations, players are at least left with somewhat similar objectives in game. The missions which are the most extreme between killing and objectives become mutually exclusive.

I can see why some people want to remove the system, but I think the classification is helpful. The biggest issue I see is repetition of scenarios, but that is more of a failure to plan, not that there isn’t enough to pick from.

If i had a say, i would drop the types of operation.
As an organizer i would prefer not to be restricted for the events to certain missions - let the organizer pick there own regardless of the classification.

Why not keep the mission types and have an 'open' option for type that allows any of the missions to be used?

That way if a vast majority of tournaments register as 'open' through the OTM, @HellLois can devote the effort he would spend refining the types of missions to something different...

Why not keep the current types, or allow TOs to just cherry-pick whatever missions they feel like. Then you can have your groupings of similarly-typed missions, and also the option to have whatever missions the TO damn well pleases

I really like the way the missions are grouped, but would definitely open tournaments up in terms of variety if there was no Operations limitations.
I've been to a number of tournaments lately that have had the same mission load out, so anything to shake it up would be good imo.

I like the groupings but I would also like the option to choose any mission I want. However one thing the missions never show is random external events, something that could screw with the missions. Perfect plans go out the window with a roll of the dice. I'd love there to be a optional random event table.
Something like a booty table. with something like below, just an idea

Weather cuts down vision, if inside lighting faulty cuts down vision. and all shots -1 burst
Ground unsteady, Phys rolls failure damage 10 Stunned
Electrical interference - certain equipment doesn't work
Electrical interference - certain equipment causes harm to the user stunned
    Random Animal/Beast/Uberfallcommando attack.
1 Trooper Vet, HQ for example brings an additional piece of equipment/weapon, i.e. roll on booty lvl 1
Glorious weather, too much light. all sight based dice rolls -3 modifier
FEAR - All troopers must make Will +3 test at beginning of the second and third turns - Failure is full burst of primary weapon at nearest target, or sacrifice order from Orderpool.

The reason I am suggesting this is experienced players are getting very good at mitigating the randomness of the dice, and a random event in a mission can really shake things up.

Proposal for a new kind of Joint Operations:

Goal: increase flexibility without undermining the design intention of 'Special Operations' and 'Direct Action' as broad mission categories.

This proposal would entirely replace the current 'Joint Ops' list of missions. Only 2 tournament types would remain: Special Operations and Direct Action. The term 'Joint Operations' instead will refer to a number of missions in each tournament that can be selected from the entire mission list.

TOs would choose one of these two tournament types, and based on the number of rounds in their tournament, are allowed to choose 1 or 2 missions from the entire mission list.
For example: a 3 round Special Operations tournament could include Biotechvore as a 'Joint Operations' mission. a 6 round Direct Action tournament could include Rescue and The Grid as 'Joint Operations' missions.

Most of the time I see TOs picking joint operations and then picking a bunch of specialist-intensive missions on that list that discourage you from actually interacting with your opponent. So I dunno.

I think the simplest thing to do would be to have an "open" category, as well as Direct Action and Special Ops. Delete Joint Ops and have "open" just include all the missions.

I'm generally in favor of more freedom. So one list. Up to the organization to decide what they want.
