One model is fighting two models in CC. One of its opponents uses MA3 to impose a -3 penalty. Will that penalty apply against both opponents? Two models coordinate into close combat. One of the models has martial arts 4. Is its native burst, before assistance from the other model, 1 because of the coordinated order, or two because martial arts 4. Cheers for the assist.
1.- MA only works for the Trooper with the skill. 2.- https://forum.corvusbelli.com/threads/coordinated-order-cc-attack.1462/
(i added letter to make it easier to answer) In the face to face roll B vs A, A will get a -3 penalty In the face to face roll C vs A, A will get no penalty No. It will only apply in the face to face roll between Supposing the trooper with MA 4 is the spearhead. "In a Coordinated Order, the Spearhead trooper uses half the usual Burst (B) of his weapon, including any bonuses, rounded up. " => Burst of a CC weapon is 1 "In Close Combat, only the Spearhead trooper will perform the CC Roll, getting a MOD of +1 to his B and +1 to the PH Attribute for Damage for each friendly trooper participating in the Coordinated Order engaged with the adversary." => Trooper with MA4 will get +1 B So 1/2 = B1, then you add 1 due to support of the other trooper and 1 due to MA4 => Burst 3
The wiki's mission is to accurately reflect the rules and official material, not to add to them or explain them. The Martial Arts situation is explained under the header "How to read CC charts" http://infinitythewiki.com/en/CC_Special_Skills and the general advice anyone can give is to read the rules as literally as possible and only attempt to correct when it gets truly absurd. If it says "half burst of weapon" it's literally the weapon's burst and not from any other source. If it says Face to Face roll, it is referring to the roll between the primary actor and the hypothetical opponent.
When people are routinely replying to rules threads with links to prior rules threads, I think we'd all save a lot of time if some sort of addendum was present on the pages with frequently asked questions. Infinity has complex rules that are represented in multiple different places and anything that can simplify that would be a good idea.
I think it is important to teach people how rules interact and explain how we reach our conclusions, wich is what we do on this forum, instead of presenting a huge collection of answers, unless the answer goes against previous answers, wich is what the FAQs are for.
Luckily N4 is coming, hopefully they take it as a chance to make the rules much more clear and streamlined.
I think the solved question subforum was supposed to solve that. Sadly there is not enough thread added to it
