Christmas Charity Tournament: Overall 5th of 12 participants (5 TP, 13 OP)

Game I: Tohaa v Shasvastii 9-2. Mission: Highly Classified.

    game1.jpg
    0) Lose the WIP roll and get table side. Deploy the Kotail with the appearance of Gao-Rael snipers on the left building. Deploy the Sukeul K1 / Sakiel / Ectros link behind the crate on the left (Sakiel is actually behind a transparent barrier off screen to left rear), and stupidly put the Kaeltar right next to the Sukeul / Ectros. Clipsos has a commanding view from the tall central building. The Nikoul is placed to watch major firelanes and I forget the mine every single time I play him this tournament.

1a) Nikoul gets obliterated in a single order, doing nothing. Sheskiin and Jayth duo move up the left side and shoot some holoechoes but get scared off when Sheskiin loses a wound to a lucky crit. I'm scared of the E/M grenades on the Jayth but OpFor never capitalizes on my dumb clump, he doesn't want to spend orders on spec fire.

1b) I have 8 orders to spend due to dead Nikoul and unrevealed Clipsos and use it killing the Jayth and throwing one E/M grenade on Sheskiin, keeping her too scared to do much later. Start to move up my Aelis / Kumotail / Sukeul HMG triad and get HVT Identity Check with sensor as my hidden classified.

2a) OpFor moves around a bit and kills the Sakiel with Sheskiin and removes the 'mate from the K1 Sukeul. She's scared to come all the way out because of the holoechoes with the E/M grenade though and hides again. The TR plasma bot pokes out and I put it unconscious with the Clipsos. A hidden KHD malignos reveals to go after it and we forget that Aelis should have ARO (actually, I didn't know that it had a KHD until OpFor declared Maestro as an ARO during my turn but whatever). Clipsos gets killed and OpFor gets Test Run easily, moving TR up to corner to stop my specialists, driving the peeking Sukeul HMG back.

2b) Aelis wastes the TR bot and the team rush forward. Aelis fails her WIP roll for mapping on the enemy deployment zone terrain and takes a ridiculous shot from a shotgun at the edge of it's range (which turns out to be -3 not -6 like I thought).

3a) Opfor retrieves his unconscious Jayth in CasEvac and runs it back to hide. Takes it so far back that he accidentally waives the bonus objective point for enemy half of the table (Rescue).

3b) Sukeul HMG blasts the stupid shotgunner and CasEvac Aelis. The Kumotail gets HVT Innoculation without problems (every time you touch an HVT you roll for good/bad/no outcomes), and I waive the remaining orders since I can't do more than lose victory points.

    Post Game:
the Jayth could have ruined my day but wasn't willing to spec fire. The E/M locking down Sheskiin meant I didn't have to deal with her.

Game II: Tohaa v Combined Army 1-9. Mission: Supplies
    game2.jpg
    0) lose the WIP roll again and get table side. Hide the Clipsos on the far right platform to maximize the unfortunate supplies. Bunch guys up in the rear left and the mid-range triad Sukeul HMG / Sakiel / Sukeul K1 go middle deployment zone. The Kotail are on the right appearing to be Gao-Rael snipers. OpFor puts a Speculo on my right side for deployment, and I put the Nikoul on the left to cover the left two objectives.

1a) Some Shas camo model with a combi grabs the supplies and gets bonus armor, then uses the majority of the orders running across the table. Nikoul dies to one shot again, the Clipsos kills the sniper that did it in ARO with a normal roll (OpFor put all shots in the Nikoul to open the way for Sheskiin). The speculo wounds the Kotail and hides. Sheskiin pokes out and crits my K1, which falls back into cover.

1b) somehow I think that E/M will immobilize the speculo as well as isolate it and waste orders isolating it. The ONLY face to face roll I win in the game happens here and the Speculo is isolated. Move up my range fireteam to touch the left supplies box. Crazy Koalas pop out (will go off on either player) but they disperse to enemy side. Go into suppressive fire.

2a) OpFor crit dodges to survive with his Shas HD to remove both Crazy Koalas and avoid the suppression fire. Sheskiin pops out and rolls about 6-7 crits this turn, killing every member of the fireteam near the supplies. The Speculo kills the Kotail.

2b) I have four orders left, so I move up the short range fireteam and get Extreme Predjudice on an Spawn Embryo infiltrator. Go into Suppression Fire.

3a) Sheskiin crits a few more times (I think bringing her up to around 10 for the game?) and along with her native BS 15 removes the remaining fireteam with no trouble. Opfor grabs a second box, getting smoke equipment I think.

3b) With 2 models remaining I'm in retreat and the game ends.

    Post Game:
when you win a single F2F in an entire game it gets hard to say what tactical errors were made, though the Kotail/Speculo order waste was clearly a blunder. I had abt 40 VP at the end of this one, just the Kaeltar and the Kumotail left.

Game III: Tohaa vs Shock Army of Acontecimento 3-2. Mission: Decapitation
    game3.jpg
    0) win the WIP roll and choose table side. OpFor will have to come to me. They bring 2 Tikbalang and put them on either board side. Datatracker is a camo infiltrator with combi, I put my Igao in it's back arc. Forget that facing matters for my Designated Target and so she is facing the wall. There is a Regular with sapper in a 5-man link that wins every face to face roll it has on a major tower which will later block me from getting to the enemy DT or LT.

1a) Enemy datatracker shoots at the backward facing DT and gets blown away by the Igao shotgun, the DT tanks the armor roll and faces the way she should have. Tikbalang on left rolls up and climbs a building, critting my Sakiel into Symbiont Inactive state. Same Tikbalang crits the same Sakiel on the next order, putting it unconscious and making the K1 Sukeul / Aelis / Sakiel Triad into a Duo. Same Tikbalang shoots a Symbiobug (I thought you couldn't shoot equipment before it is deployed and leave it out of cover). This Tikbalang then rolls its third crit in a row against the Taqeul Officer (whose base it can see on from on top of the building) who enters symbiont inactive state. The Tikbalang takes enough wounds from ARO to go Unconscious L2.

1b) drop the Gao Tarsos who blows up the machinist in back left building and locks down the bulleteer in the back of the spiral staircase. I forget that the Igao is now frenzied (though I will remember to put this token out later after it wounds the other Tikbalang). The Gao Rael loses a F2F and goes symbiont inactive. The Sukeul ML loses a F2F against the Tikbalang and goes Symbiont Inactive. The Sukeul HMG loses a F2F and goes Symbiont Inactive. I camo the Igao (forgetting Frenzy should have triggered this turn) and end my turn.

2a) the Tikbalang climbs the building with the Igao to bait it out and shoot my DT. I remember Igao is supposed to be Frenzied and put the token. It doesn't matter, I get put into unconscious on both models. The Gao-Rael loses to a crit on this Tikbalang and goes unconscious. The ML rolls a crit on the Tikbalang but fails its other rolls and goes unconscious. The Servant bot makes a few dodges and gets put unconscious so it can't raise the Sukeul ML.

2b) I somehow put the other Tikbalang into Unconscious L1 (I think with the Sukeul HMG behind the car but not sure). I know I'm ahead on army points but can't make anything else happen for objective points yet. Move Aelis and K1 combi from back left toward enemy DT who is behind building on right. Doctor the Gao-Rael for future turns.

3a) fireteam breaks and members move up. Drop bear gets thrown to add more protection to the DT.

3b) move the Sukeul back to reform a Triad around Gao-Rael / Sukeul HMG / Sukeul K1. Sukeul HMG loses a crit to the Sapper Regular. Aelis shoots the guy who threw the drop bear which I'm sure is too far to detonate. OpFor checks and it does not detonate. I don't have the orders to do anything other than lose VP to the Sapper Regular at this point so I waive my orders and win the game.

    Post Game:
I had been looking forward to playing this guy because he has played since basically game launch, but I have to say it wasn't really fun. Everytime he rolled crits it was "oh of course" but when I won F2F rolls (or normal rolls when he expected to tank multiple ARO with his TAG) or when I passed armor saves it was all "Tohaa is broken" and "you only won because...". Not sure why I got so much salt from a guy who critted me a bunch with a 2 TAG list, but I'm not really looking forward to any other games with him ever, really.

Nice reports. A few things that went down that sound like a bit of a shame, but well played, and a good read. :)

    Thanks for the bat reps.

Dont sweat the salty players, it wouldnt have mattered what you were playing. Some guys tend to forget it is a dice game...
