Video reveal for the Torchlight Brigade just dropped:

Looks like a lot of heavy infantry with the reinforcements models filling out the profiles.
Now for all the baseless speculation and 40k comparisons we know and love...

Now we can play Ultramarines, our favourite faction of all time, in infinity N4.

I quite like them for the most part. About the only thing I dislike is the size of the swords on the Hellblazers.

If this style is similar enough to be compared to space marines then fine by me. I think CB's aesthetic is way cooler, O-12 lore more pleasant, and N4 more fun than the GW equivalent so these models are a massive upgrade to space marines as far as I'm concerned.

I wonder if I could cut the things off the top of the Silverstar Rover helmets. It's really the only thing that bugs me, well that and the Hellblazer swords, which seems to be the common theme.

I didn’t think 40k when I first saw them, I thought Warmachine. But they are still cooler and better than 40k or Warmachine.

I like 90%. I don’t like the HB swords and the SR helmets. Other than that, they are pretty cool. The Nimrod is awesome, I like the scout guy. The Yellowjacket is really hard to see.

But for me the main thing is going to be the money. I’m sure this set is going to be expensive. I’m probably going to pick up the Gladius set though. They look awesome and can go into my Starmada. However, it the rules for them are really cool and fun, that has changed things for me before.

The problem I see is that with these big new sets, for a re-do or all-new, they are usually the not so good profiles of not so good troops. Look at the Black Wind Steel Phalanx set. I never see anyone play those figures and I don’t make lists with them either. Half of the Haqqislam is used. I never got the White Banner set because I only use one troop from that so I just proxy.

I come back from the dead on news of a new O-12 sectorial. I am excited. This is more what I wanted than Starmada.

Hot take: I actually like the ultramarines. So at least I am happy. :P

    We march for Macragge!

Line infantry that have helmets on, I love it. And they look like they have power armor on. Also LOVE IT. Giant Sword, very amusing. Though I wonder if we shall get anything actually good in CC.

I can see Yujing players getting angry about the Rover versus Zuyongs and the YellowJackets versus Liu Xing, but overall this seems fine. Viral weaponry will struggle against this sectorial, but it looks they will struggle against a strong hacking network.

The only thing I'd begrudge them for is Stealth, but other than that I like my Lui quite a lot better than these.

Also Strikers vs. Zhencha; coming in at sub-30 points for a 2-wound camo specialist with D-charges and NCO is kind of bonkers considering you also have your choice of an SMG w/ Minelayer or a B3 Template + Flash Pulse to dominate the midfield. Seems like a super efficient package.

Kind of. But I'm happier with Climbing+.

Sombre eats both their lunches, anyway.

So far, it just reads like IA with worse guns, a warband, and an old Kriza. I remain ambivalent.

Edit: oh, Hellblazers are just strictly better Hwarangs in every single meaningful capacity. That's pretty dumb.

I mean, a Sombra with a Red Fury is 39 points; a Strider Red Fury is 34.

Sombras get Climbing+ and Unhackable; Striders get +1CC, NCO, and Terrain (Total). Which means the Sombra is paying ~7 points (NCO is 2 points for HI) for Climbing+ and the ability to not be hacked. 8 points if Terrain (Total) is considered a 1-point upgrade over Terrain (Zero-G).

Zhencha Boarding Shotgun comes in at 37 points vs. the LSG Strider at 29. Zhenchas get Climbing+, AP Ammo, +1 Damage, +4" of deployment, and +2 PH; Striders get NCO, +1 Burst, Flash Pulse, and Shock Mines. Taking the 2 points for NCO and 1 point for Mines into consideration, the Zhencha is paying 11 points for those differences.

I don't know if those are fair prices to pay, but what I do know is that the Strider is coming at an extremely competitive price point. I don't see it having any issues making its points back and then some.

Yeah they are all similar to Yu Jing HI. I'm a little irked but whatever, I give up on it.

I'm disappointed they don't have anything to justify those huge backpacks. I'm leaving those off if I ever get them.

Why do they putting shields on guys if they don't do anything? The HB should be ARM4 or something. Don't make things just because they look cool! At least the Hoplites have Immunity Total. They also have the same stats and weapons as Hwarang but of course cheaper. Ok 1 less marital arts and Impetuous instead of Frenzy. That's not much of a difference. Not worth 5pt difference.

The Rovers are ok. The SO is really nice but other than that, they seem only ok. I was expecting them to be Elite or Veteran troops too. Yet again a troop that doesn't live up to the background I guess.

Nimrod are ok. Disappointed there's no specialist. The FD one with Hidden deploy doesn't seem worth it. They are supposed to be assassinating but it's going to be done with a SMG?

Yellowjacket are cool. They are like the Liu Xing in Armor and 1.5 wounds but not more. I'm not a fan of SMG. LX at least gets a spitfire or BSG.

Prime is interesting. Wasn't the Kriza that had -3 to be shot at before? So this -3 is not modified by anything too... Seems cool. Again skills that have no use with +1 CC damage adn a big ass sword for a guy that really doesn't want to be in CC.

The best troop here seems to be the Strider. Sure it's like the Sombra and Zhencha but different enough.

I see a real lack of hacking ability so far. Their high BTS is not going to help much. Especially when they are targeted with spotlight.

Edit: Added other troops to make it easier to see.

And how will they differ from Cyberghosts.

As for Hellblazers, yeah, "we're almost the same as another unit, but slightly cheaper, thx to Impetous" is a bad design. If only they didn't also have Stealth it wouldn't be so clear a superiority.

Nimrods are currently one of the best gunfighters in the game. Having MSV 2 and minimism -6 on the same platform is incredible. Their only weaknesses right now are weapon selection and a single wound.

EDIT: @Knauf. You are so correct. Thank you. It is only -3. I don't know why I saw -6. This is fine.

My brain push me to think they'll be HI because of the red logo.
All units with red logo are currently HI except Wreckers that will be TAG:grinning: (Unless Bostria deceived us!)
But my brain is weak anyway.
