So, I haven’t managed to get any Infinity games in for a few months, but I’ve finally managed to arrange a couple of games this weekend. I will be playing my Aleph (obviously) against a friend using his Nomads (could be vanilla or sectorial). I was planning on playing Vanilla, but I have the models to go SP if it would be beneficial. We are planning on playing two games, the first a game of Tic Tac Toe and the second a game of Unmasking. Neither of these are missions I have actually played before, although I have played some of the similar missions. I have made a list for each of the missions, and was interested in discussing what everyone else thinks, if there are any obvious gaps etc. Or even just what you may do differently. Vanilla Aleph - Tic Tac Toe ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 10 ACHILLES Lieutenant Spitfire, Nanopulser / Pistol, EXP CCW. (2.5 | 75) DASYU Hacker (Killer Hacking Device) Combi Rifle, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 37) MYRMIDON OFFICER (Chain of Command) Boarding Shotgun, Nanopulser, Eclipse Grenades / Pistol, AP CCW. (1 | 35) DANAVAS Hacker (Hacking Device Plus. UPGRADE: Maestro) Combi Rifle + Pitcher / Breaker Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 25) DAKINI Tacbot Combi Rifle / Electric Pulse. (0 | 13) DAKINI Tacbot Combi Rifle / Electric Pulse. (0 | 13) THORAKITES (360º Visor) Submachine gun, Chain Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 12) THORAKITES (360º Visor) Submachine gun, Chain Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 12) LAMEDH Rebot Flash Pulse, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (0 | 8) LAMEDH Rebot Flash Pulse, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (0 | 8) GROUP 2 4 1 PROXY Mk.1 Engineer Combi Rifle, Nanopulser, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10) YUDBOT Electric Pulse. (0 | 3) PROXY Mk.2 MULTI Sniper Rifle, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 24) PROXY Mk.5 (Forward Observer) 2 Submachine Guns, Nanopulser, E/M Grenades / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10) NETROD . (0 | 4) NETROD . (0 | 4) NETROD . (0 | 4) WARCOR (Aerocam) Flash Pulse / Stun Pistol, Knife. (0 | 3) 5.5 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army The main premise here is to use Achilles to try and kill off enemy specialists and key units early on, whilst using the second group to take out key models with the Proxy Mk 2 Sniper and start capping points early with the Proxy Mk 5 FO. There is a decent base of AROs with the two Lamedhs, two Dakinis (who I will probably try to move up and put on suppressive fire with 2 coordinated orders) and the Warcor. Additionally the Thorakites will protect my DZ and flanks. The Danavas can use white noise to support the golden god against any MSV, and the Daysu will hide for most of the game for turn 3 objective captures (unless a juicy hacker target is presented). The main worry I have around this list is the lack of a MSV 2 to deal with Camo / ODD. Vanilla Aleph - Unmasking ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 10 MACHAON Lieutenant Combi Rifle, Nanopulser, Eclipse Grenades / Pistol, DA CCW. (0.5 | 38) DASYU Hacker (Killer Hacking Device) Combi Rifle, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 37) DEVA (Multispectral Visor L2) Spitfire, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 33) MYRMIDON Spitfire, Nanopulser, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, AP CCW. (1 | 31) NAGA (Minelayer) Boarding Shotgun, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 27) ZAYIN Rebot HMG / Electric Pulse. (1 | 26) DANAVAS Hacker (Hacking Device Plus. UPGRADE: Maestro) Combi Rifle + Pitcher / Breaker Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 25) LAMEDH Rebot Flash Pulse, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (0 | 8) LAMEDH Rebot Flash Pulse, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (0 | 8) PROBOT (Minesweeper, Repeater) Electric Pulse. (0 | 8) GROUP 2 4 1 PROXY Mk.1 Engineer Combi Rifle, Nanopulser, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10) PROXY Mk.2 MULTI Sniper Rifle, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 24) PROXY Mk.5 (Forward Observer) 2 Submachine Guns, Nanopulser, E/M Grenades / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10) NETROD . (0 | 4) NETROD . (0 | 4) NETROD . (0 | 4) WARCOR (Aerocam) Flash Pulse / Stun Pistol, Knife. (0 | 3) 6 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army I have used a similar basic structure for this list, but with a bigger focus on the reactive turn, with the intention to make it as hard as possible for my opponent to use the consoles to guess my DT. The Deva and Myrmidon Spitfires give me two different options on offence, so I can use the most effective offensive piece for the job. I considered taking a Dakinis HMG, but I figured the Zayin with supportware would be nearly as effective while continuing along the more reactive theme. I also wanted a Naga KHD or FO, but couldn’t decide what I should drop to take it.
I think you use Dasyus KHD to protect Achilles from enemy hackers? But if you deploy him hidden, it will cost you one order. If you dont deploy him hidden you can use a naga for the same job and safe points. WIth those you can upgrate one 8pts drone to a 16 point myrmidon for getting smoke (its always usefull).
A couple of rules I swear by : There are no regular Thorakite or Daikini profiles. Only specialist or special weapons. Aleph is too orderstarved for ‘cheerleaders’ and all models need to help you win games. The daikini medic is a decent gunfighter, that can sweep an objective with fast movement. The Thora FO can annoy people with long range AROs, and ARM6 in cover. When running Achilles, always consider Patroclus. Everyone underestimates him, especially with the Big A on the board. But he will quite often rake up a bigger kill score.
Hey, firstly thanks for your feedback. I use the Daysu for two main purposes: first and foremost, to keep Achilles in the game and protect him from hackers. Secondly it's a TO specialist with Infiltration. I was planning on using HD, as although this loses me an order, I find the added safety and surprise factor is more important. Ideally, I would have had the Daysu in the second group and fill the first with 10 orders, however because of point constraints, I struggled to do so. I will consider downgrading to a Naga, but I like having two HD units, it can give better attack vector options and makes it harder for your opponent to counter. As a mitigating factor in the Achilles list for Tic Tac Toe, have Achilles LT with a Myrmidon Officer CoC means i can use the LT order with impunity, so even with the Daysu in HD I effectively have 10 orders. I'm torn here. I agree in principle, as I usually run by those rules myself. However for this list, I'm really tight on points as I'm trying to run two effective combat groups. I could in the Tic Tac Toe list, downgrade one of the Dakini's to a Probot and then upgrade to either: to a Dakini Paramedic, 2 Thorakite FO's and a point left over or go to two Dakini Paramedic's and a regular Thorakite. My concern would be, for any of these option I would effectively lose a viable ARO piece. Which considering I don't have the usual TR bot etc. it is a thing to consider. Additionally, due to the nature of the mission, I would imagine that I'm only likely to use a Dakini Paramedic to actually push button, as the Thorakites are slow, meaning the Thorakite FO's would mainly be doing ARO duty. Maybe dropping the Daysu to a Naga, then making both the Dakini's into Paramedics and both Thorkites into FO's would work? That leaves me with one point just hanging out but I would have: Vanilla Aleph - Tic Tac Toe ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 10 ACHILLES Lieutenant Spitfire, Nanopulser / Pistol, EXP CCW. (2.5 | 75) MYRMIDON OFFICER (Chain of Command) Boarding Shotgun, Nanopulser, Eclipse Grenades / Pistol, AP CCW. (1 | 35) NAGA Hacker (Killer Hacking Device) Combi Rifle, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 30) DANAVAS Hacker (Hacking Device Plus. UPGRADE: Maestro) Combi Rifle + Pitcher / Breaker Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 25) DAKINI Tacbot Paramedic (MediKit) Combi Rifle / Electric Pulse. (0 | 15) DAKINI Tacbot Paramedic (MediKit) Combi Rifle / Electric Pulse. (0 | 15) THORAKITES (Forward Observer, 360º Visor) Submachine gun, Chain Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 13) THORAKITES (Forward Observer, 360º Visor) Submachine gun, Chain Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 13) LAMEDH Rebot Flash Pulse, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (0 | 8) LAMEDH Rebot Flash Pulse, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (0 | 8) GROUP 2 4 1 PROXY Mk.1 Engineer Combi Rifle, Nanopulser, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10) YUDBOT Electric Pulse. (0 | 3) PROXY Mk.2 MULTI Sniper Rifle, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 24) PROXY Mk.5 (Forward Observer) 2 Submachine Guns, Nanopulser, E/M Grenades / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10) NETROD . (0 | 4) NETROD . (0 | 4) NETROD . (0 | 4) WARCOR (Aerocam) Flash Pulse / Stun Pistol, Knife. (0 | 3) 5.5 SWC | 299 Points Open in Infinity Army Do you think this would be better then? It gives more specialists and means Achilles will have a full order pool as the Daysu is no longer in HD? But I lose a HD TO specialist and downgrade to a Naga KHD (which is still very good). Edit: Forgot to mention about Patroclus. I think he's good and all, but just too expensive to take in a list with Achilles unless I go for a single combat group. Edit Mk2: Also may be worth dropping one of the two Dakini Paramedics and taking a 16 point Myrmidon for an additional source of smoke? Though I would lose a fast specialist with good defensive AROs.
You have two sources of LOS blockers, the Danavas(+lamedh) and the CoC Officer, so I wouldn't go for any normal smoke, since you have no MSV2. If you place a lamedh by both Achilles and your MK2, you have the tools to deal with any MSV2 threats to these aggressive pieces. Then your CoC Officer can focus on helping out a second wave of daikini button pushers. The Naga KHD is more versatile – mines. I myself prefer Dasyu as FO for the same reason, as you don't need KHDs to kill hackers, bullets will do just as fine. And you're right about Patroclus of course – then again, take a look at this : Group 1 - 9 orders Achilles Lt. Spitfire Danavas HD+ 2 Daikini Medics 3 Thorakite FO 2 ProBot Group 2 - 6 Orders Patroclus Spitfire MK1 Engineer MK2 Sniper 2 Net Rods 2 Lamedh
It's true, you don't need a KHD to kill hackers, but defensively it is much more effective, as enemy hacker can be right at the back hidden away hacking through repeaters and this makes trying to gun it down inefficient. Also I like the redundancy of having both a KHD and a Danavas, as it means I can do joint hacking ARO's. (and with one of the most effective counters to Achilles being a AHD, I live to be able to remove them consistently without having to sink too many orders). That's definitely not a bad list with Patroclus, but I prefer the updated Tic Tac Toe list above. PArticularly because I want a CoC when i'm taking Achilles LT. I am sold however on going with the Naga KHD and upgrading to the Thorakites and Dakinis to specialists.
