Here’s my one-stop-shop for all things Steel Phalanx. To help myself get more familiar with the factions I play, I tend to write articles where I analyze each profile that a troop has to offer. Steel Phalanx has the added benefit of having a plethora of named characters to go with them, so plenty of options, as well as a lot of unique and interesting profiles to check out. As I write more articles about Steel Phalanx, I will update this compendium with newer content. I'd kinda like this format for my Corregidor N4 guide but I don't have a nice website :( Personally I'd like this pinned. I'd like to add my thoughts on two of my favorite units. I've been using Ajax for a bit now. He is pretty good alone but he can have trouble getting out of the dz. I think he is best either with a single Myrm chainrifle to provide cover and smoke, or in a link with the idea of dropping off a specialist on his way. On turn 2 he can break out to use his impetuous order (and possibly Lt. order) to do some damage without dragging along valuable orders with him to the enemy. It's important to remember his nanopulser and high PH to make use of him. Any activation within his 4" engage range is super risky, his engage is a 16 and ignores any mimetism/ODD. If he wins it is certain death against almost unit in the game once his impetuous order gives him an attack. The nanopulser counters a lot of close range tactics that could otherwise dispatch him pretty easily. Finally his high PH and durability gives you a unit in your link that can deal with mines and koalas. Then I'd like to mention Atalanta. That high BS is a lot better than most people realise. Even in ARO she has a 25% chance to roll high enough that a 13 BS guy needs to crit to win. She gets similar odds to an unbuffed TR bot that ignores long range and visual mods. Of course you want to be cautious with her but not too cautious. It takes some experience to get a feel of what she is capable of so you can use her properly. Also against some opponents you need people sticking out for the warbands. It doesn't matter the cost, if you don't you lose. And she is good at that because against warbands she simple never misses unless they beat her F2F. I've lost count of how many times my Intruder just needed to hit his 16 but failed, totally changing the outcome of the game. And please remember that she is expensive, but not THAT expensive. Don't get disappointed every time she doesn't dominate.
