https://www.infinitythegame.com/blog/news/item/517-its-challenge-traitors-breaking-news I hadn't seen it anywhere else in our forum, so I thought I'd mention it just in case we have folks who read the forum but do not visit the main infinity website.
Well, they are discussing the overall conclussion of the event there. As for the Tarik, other faction' players are together yelling that we earned more than them, but is it true? First of all, you need to actually play Tarik. I'm not a fan of him really, he is too squishy for my likings, seeing that he's dubbed the "Haqq's Alpha Striker". I preffer my datapacks on Govads, Sekbans, DjB's or Asawiras - units that can succesfully hunt down enemies and are cheaper that Cap'n 'slam. What about DT' s that need to be somewhere at the end of the game? S5 bois. DT that need to survive? Waste of points on Tarik. Backline hacker or cheerleader are my options. In conclusion, additional order fits our boy most, but scenarios where i would pick him as my DT are limited, so i don't feel any better than other players.
I would definitely say, that we gained more than other factions, because Tarik can make the most of an additional order compared to the other charakters. But since, like you said, there are Datatrackers that can do that job better in a lot of missions, it isnt a nobrainer. The only mission that comes to mind, where I would definitely take him as DT is Frontline. The bonus isnt that big for the DT in this mission, but with his weapons you want to go into the midfield anyway and he can be parked in relative safety on a building. Combine that with one of Haqqs Doctors that also can start in the midfield and you have good chances to make the most out of Tarik. In Rescue and Capture and Protect he also might be handy as DT, but I rather take the objective back into my DZ where the hiding DT receives it on top of the bonus for having it in the DZ.
I think we really get the nicest bonus of all :D For me Tarik is THE Datatracker in Vanilla Haqq. I thought about few units but for me he's the best for this role - as a LT he has additional orded, he's fast, quite resilient, quite deadly and also rather easy to hide (thanks to superjumping on roofs). I used him in Polish Team Championship last year as a Datatracker in Frontline, Looting and Sabotaging and Comms Center - and he did really good job, giving me many OPs, killing enemies and survivaning the battles. And with another additional order? Definitely YES! :) PozdRawiam / Greetings P.S. I'm playing Druze now and I really miss Tarik :D
If you want to bring a Tarik as a 3 order Data Tracking Lt. does it make sense to pack your crew with units that don’t care if he dies? All of the units in Vanilla that have Veteran (or Morat) are: Krakot Renegades Al Fasid Druze Govads Zhayedan Druze, Govads, and Zhayedan have Hacker profiles available and Zhayedan have a Doctor profile so there are some specialists available to push buttons. Just tossing in a few models with Tarik in Infinity Army, it looks like a 10 unit list is going to be coming in right around 300 points depending on which profiles you choose. Does this seem worth do doing? Do those troops cover enough bases to be competitive?
Well, Vanilla has CoC Farzan. Better idea than to sink points into units with subpar point efficiency - at least when they are taken in such numbers you can claim "we don't care about LoL".
Yeah, @WWSHD, just take Farzan. He is a must-be in an army led by a Tarik LT :) It's like you're loosing a specialist (because you don't want to risk with your precious and fragile CoC, so you hide him), but it's worth it in most cases. Tarik is ramboing, and Farzan is staying safe ;) PozdRawiam / Greetings
Tairk is good, but hes also only in vanilla. Kusanagi is a good DT too and she can gain fireteam benefits. Looking at things in a vacuum is never a good idea, and is not how CB balances. CB looks at everything as a whole. ARM 3 isn't going to take you far for too long. He will do great killing a few units but he WILL die if hes a ramboing DT.
Frontline, Looting & Sabotaging, Comms Center are indeed great missions for him. Any mission that requires you to kill or hold something with your datatracker is great with this. That extra order can allow him to super jump up a roof and really hide. If he actually has to shoot anything after you put him in suppressive fire, he won’t be living long already...
Remember that being in a Fireteam means not being able to use that irregular order. That means Rao and Kusanagi have to make a choice, Fireteam or order. Xi Zhuang is simply a linkable (again, choose) basic troop that can carry some Glue-Koalas, and bought mostly because the Kanren will use those perimetrals, and to return the favour to your friend you bought the Red Veil box with... Then Voronin... imagine Saladin, without NWI, getting an extra irregular order he can use only on himself, now make him S4 so hiding in the highest rooftop is not all that good of an option. Andromeda... is Andromeda. Bigger, easier to target, shortest reach, and less good at shooting that Kusanagi, starts closer to the enemy than any other un-marker Aleph unit (aside from Achilles V2, Mk5 proxy and Thrasimedes), and forces to carry two melee tables. Tarik might not be THE KILLING MASCHINE, but he certainly has all the advantages that can be have, and little to no disadvantages if taken. Also, Tarik Lt + Farzan CoC + Fiday means a great deal of pain, and potentially 13 orders to him, but you might want to take a Hakim to deploy in the same fire lane he has just cleared.
I would much rather have a fireteam than be on my own with an extra order. Order efficiency is what fire teams bring that a single extra order on a mini cannot do. I can spend 3 orders and move up 8 models ( core and haris) or spend 3 orders and move up a single mini in a vanilla faction.
