We have one of our biggest events coming up and seeing as I've narrowed down my lists, I thought I might share them to see what people make of them, what they'd change, which they'd use for what missions and any tips they might have for approaching the event with TAK.

    5 SWC | 300 Points

    Open in Infinity Army

The event is 5 missions, 2 days.

    Day One:
Round 1: (Custom Mission from the Loss Of Lieutenant(podcast) design a mission challenge)
    Round 2: Highly Classified
    Round 3: Decapitation
    Round 4: Looting and Sabotage
    Round 5: Supremacy

Further more to this information, I know my first opponent will be running Shasvaasti (grudge match)

The lists I've designed are mission ambivalent. I feel they are both capable of playing all the missions well. Though If I had to pick I'd like to go with the following:

    Supply Raid: List B
    Highly Classified: List B
    Decapitation: List A
    Looting and Sabotage: List A
    Supremacy: List B

I'd be curious to which list people would recommend running in Round 1, against Shaasvasti in Supply Raid?

In terms of faction match ups, I am definitely finding Bakunin to be one of the most challenging. What factions do you think these lists might struggle against?

Whilst I've been running these lists for sometime and generally have a good feel for most profiles. The profiles I've had least exposure to would be the Strelok K-9, so if anyone has some tips on how to utilise him, that'd be appreciated.

Whilst the profiles I am finding most challenging to get milage out of are: Spetznaz AP Rifle, Vassily, Strelok FO. I'd love to hear thoughts in them too if you got em?

Finally, any other questions/suggestions people have about the list are welcome

Against Shasvastii probably something with sensor, nobody in my meta plays any form of Ariadna so I am quite rusty in what they have iirc Antipodes have it.

Spetznaz AP Rifle is great! It's an absolute autoinclude in my TAK Lists on tournaments. Get's a great buff in ITS 15, but even without buff he is very good. He can hunt obvious Lts, (Decapitation) kill HVTs in Unmasking and cripple Fireteams with his grenades.

Vassily is a bit tricky. I always struggle to choose between T2 Marksman- and T2 Sniper Rifle. As CoC he can push butttons, can blow things up with D-Charges, so he is more in the midfield which means T2 Marksmanrifle would be the right choice. But on the other hand is a T2 Sniper a really dangerous weapon and can make him a good ARO piece. Last weekend on the tournament he was not even needed in the first game, table was very dense, so he was no use with his Sniper Rifle, all my orders were spent on midfield units. In the last game on the other hand, he was a beast on the battlefield. Killed two enemy snipers, one HI and two skirmishers. All with one hit thanks to T2 Sniper.

Strelok FO: I play at least two in my lists. If I go first, they push buttons and then fall back, play roadblock, target an enemy unit or HVT (if the mission or classified card demands it). They usually don't live to see the and of the game, but get the job done.

    Good insight, thank you.

Regarding the Strelok, how do you deploy yours? As aggressively as the table permits? or do you tend to hang him back a little to give it option for defensive duty if need be?

Vassily, is exactly that - tricky. I’ve simply never had him really shine. The T2 sniper seems to give alot of utility. CoC, genuine ARO threat with an ability to hamper opponent turns(Dogged) and a genuine active turn gun threat. However, it’s very rare an opponent leaves a good target for him to go after, whilst moving him to reposition for a shot is not always worth the orders because he is set up deep in my DZ to maximise range for his sniper rifle.

That’s why I’ve been seriously considering replacing him for the T2 MMR or even a VetKazak Xvisor or FO to slot into the link

Considering the list design I still believe the T2 sniper fits better. As I have alot of shell games designed into the list to give my opponent pause, which makes me feel I need one of the many camo markers I leave standing needs to be a threat. However, the list does struggle for a mid range gunfighter, so the T2 MMR makes sense too.

Any insight on which you’d run in that list A?

First I deployed both camo tokens (Strelok and decoy) relatively aggressiv, but changed that in the latest games. Only the real Strelok use the forward deployment, the decoy gets on the roof or the edge of a scenerie piece to "cover" a good firelane in the deployment zone. Together with the other camo tokens in my deployment zone they make it harder to pick the real thread of a Spetznaz, Tankhunter or Vassily T2 Sniper.

Players with less experience against TAK tend to play very carefull when there are 6-8 camo tokens on ARO duty. Wasting orders for smoke/eclipse or discover.

I don't take him because of his fighting skills, i just want a CoC in my list because I always play with Voronin as my LT and most players knows who my LT is, as soon as I deploy the old man with his dog. So his main task is, to keep me out of loss of LT. And I prefer him over a cheaper TH-CoC because of his skills. So for me it's 90% of the time with the Sniper instead of the Marksman.

For me it still would be the Sniper one. But Your list is in some aspekts very different from what I used to play, so I can't really compare.

For example, this are my two lists for the last tournament. The missions were Unmasking, Supplies and Frontline.

Awesome, yeah sounds like we deploy the streloks in a similar way. I agree overwhelming your opponent with camo markers really does slow their decision making and often results in a more cautious approach. However, like you mentioned the more experienced players that understand TAK often disrespect any camo marker outside the DZ, as they know it is likely a strelok. That’s why having a BH with a panzerfaust is a neat trick sometimes.

Yeah, i hear what you’re saying about the CoC, but 40pts is a significant tax. I feel I need to squeeze more out of him.

Yet his design to me puts him somewhere between the TH missile launcher and the TH auto-cannon. As the TH ML is our most dangerous ARO camo marker. Whilst the AC is also danger on aro, but it can do double duty on active turn if the enemy leaves a target, as it has B2. Vassily provides an ARO threat with a T2 Sniper round, whilst also being able to shoot in the active with 2B and better range bands. Which for me leaves him somewhere in between, less dangerous than the TH ML on ARO, and more capable than the AC on active but against different target type. The dogged adds to his ARO prowess, CoC and specialist is all sprinkled on top.

Yet, unlike the TH AC, he is no threat to TAGs. His optimal prey is HI and sudo-Hi models. Yet often i find B2 unreliable or those HI are either linked or have gunfighter skills(mimetism/msv) and make it riskier to engage. I don’t know i generally find him awkward at the minute

Yeah, looking at your lists, they are far more aggressive than my lists. My lists are probably too balanced in their design in hope of giving me tools to deal with any opponent/scenario

Yes, he is very special tool, not suitable for all tasks. As I said earlier, I had games where he didn't come out of camo the whole game, because he was not needed. I really only activate him, when the situation is absolutely in his favour. I really make sure, that he uses everthing he can for his advance. Even if this means spending 2 or three orders in one turn to put him back into camo state after he killed is target to use surprise attack on the next one. Doing so he killed Armand le Muet, a linked Brawler Sniper (5 man core was already down to 3 at this point, so no sixth sense) and Fiddler in two turns on my last tournament vs Druze. Moved him into position to get all his targets out of cover before attacking out of camo.

Yes, it took me quite a while, but after many many defeats I learned, that you have to play aggressiv against experienced players, to keep the pressure. As you mentioned, they know how to handle your camo tokens.

And I absolutey love the Dynamo Duo with Spitfire and paramedic.

It happens too often that my dog warriors ended up unconscious in the enemy deployment zone. What a waste. With their high physic it is really likely that a paramedic would bring them back to the fight. So first I added the Dynamo paramedic. But he had problems reaching the unconscious doggo. Often made it a suicide mission for him to bring the dog back into action. So i added the Spitfire Dynamo to clear ot the way and this duo is absolutey awesome. They are a real swiss army knife with so many tools. In my next games I want to try them as a harris with a 112 mororized.
