Just list-building and wanted to confirm something. If I have a Core link of Line Kazaks and want to include a Frontovik in that link (4 Line Kazaks, 1 Frontovik), I cannot also include a Vet Kazak under the Wildcard rule (replacing one of the Line Kazaks) in that Core Line Kazak link as whilst the Vet Kazak can join any fireteam, he doesn't count as a Line Kazak. That's my current understanding - just want to confirm. Thanks in advance.
No, the vet can replace the line Kazaks ,so a link with 2 line Kazaks, 2 Veterans and 1 Frontovik is ok
No. Veteran Kazaks can be part of any Fireteam. This effectively means that they can take the place of any trooper, as long as Fireteam Requirements like needing a trooper with Duo or Haris Skills for a Duo or Haris Fireteam. Note also that it's not 4 Line Kazaks, 1 Frontovik', but 'Special Fireteam: Core. Up to 4 Line Kazaks + 1 Frontovik.'. My emphasis. Technically, you could have a Frontovik, Voronin (who can also join any Fireteam) and three Veteran Kazaks.
Wild card let's you join any fireteam. However does that mean they count as a member of a fireteam, or can they just join? For example I ran 2x Vet T2s, 1x Vet APHMG, an Frontie, and a 112 in fireteam. If the frontie dies, and the link was broken, can i reform as a 4 man link with the 3 vets and a 112, or as just a 3 man with the vets?
As IJW says above, Wildcard effectively lets you count as anything for the purposes of Fireteam creation.
In fact, you could run any of these Fireteams; -> 3 x Vet Kazaks, Voronin and a 112. -> 2 x Vet Kazaks, Voronin, a Fontovik and a 112. -> 2 x Vet Kazaks, Voronin, a Line Kazak & a Frontovik. The only restriction would that they must be a Core Fireteam - so even if there's only two Vet Kazaks and a 112, you'd still be stuck with a 3-man Core, rather than being able to switch to a Haris.
take it a step farther and run 4 vet kazaks and a 112. Thats doable. you dont actually require a "frotnovik" to be a frotnovik link
I'm pretty sure you need one unit from the unit you're forming the link with. Though a Frontovik engineer is a vet kazaks best friend. Makes EM a lot less worrisome.
Actually, I don't think you'd need a Frontovik; but was trying to keep my list of examples brief, so left off those examples. In which case, maybe I kept my examples list a bit too brief! I doubt many people would bother using EM against Vet Kazaks; well, unless they had any other choice that is! (The most likely scenario I can think of, is if they desperately needed to keep the Vet from reaching an objective).
Ex Druze LGL with e/m ammo. If I had it and the opponent had a HI link with no BTS and no engineer nearby... Immobilized HI aren't as scary as regular HI
