So, Let there be a happy Moira synced with a civilian on their merry way to their own DZ. Moira declares straitght move, with a civilian alongside. Suddenly there is a TO guy AROing from HD with a DTW hitting Moira on her way. From movement rules we know that DTW will hit every model which travels through it. Does it mean it always hit nearby synced civilian who is moving alongside Moira which would result in NULLIFIED ARO (became IDLE because hitting neutral party) ? Would it mean that "keeping civilian synced" is a way to bypass mines, as the it's DTW works same way ? (just move with civilian close so that DTW always covers both of you)
Makes sense to me in theory, however you'd have to have perfect positioning to not have a point at the start or end of the movement that the template can't clip just you and still miss the civvie.
And remind me of the related ruling, please: at what point in the Order Sequence should we properly place a template? (In this ARO usage situation, I presume upon declaration of the ARO, so that the active player may declare their 2nd Short Skill properly.)
Exactly. So in the above example, you just declare move as your second short skill, walk the civilian into the blast zone, and laugh.
Yes. Although it can be harder to achieve in practice: quite often you can place the template such that it doesn’t hit the civvie. To do it reliably usually you need to validly trigger the mine/DTW first and then move the civvie into it.
