Sorry to bother everyone again. But something I have noticed. I want to take an Interventor KHD. I plan on using to run up the board in Impersonation state, then use the KHD to take out my opponent's key hackers. Reading the rules, it states that: p. 113. REQUIREMENTS ► To use this Special Skill, Troopers must be in Marker form (for example, Camouflaged, Impersonation, Decoy, Holoecho…) or in Hidden Deployment at the start of the Order in which they are activated. ► The user must declare a CC Attack, BS Attack, or Comms Attack. ► The user of this Special Skill must be in their Active Turn. This I understand. But I have noticed that a lot of profiles with marker states listed (e.g., camo) also list surprise attack (-3) in a trooper's profile. The Interventor does not have surprise attack listed as a skill. Would I be correct that, although the skill itself is not listed in the trooper profile, being in Impersonation state automatically confers Surprise Attack (-3) for a Comms Attack?
Interventors do not have Surprise Attack listed in the profile, therefore they can not make use of it. As simple as that. What you say was true in N3, but N4 put an end to all nested skills for the sake3of rules clarity. The first point in the skill rules is just stating a condition of use: being under a marker or in hidden deployment. But if the unit does not have the skill then it can not make use of it.
Great, thanks for clarifying @Janzerker. Do you know where that is specified in the rule book? I just want to make a solid argument if such a discussion comes up.
Surprise Attack is listed as a Special Skill. As per the Special Skills section, "These types of Skills cannot be performed by every Trooper, only by those with it listed in their Unit Profile." So if you do not have Surprise Attack on your profile, you cannot use it.
