This is a crazy bit of Kiwi nostalgia from the 80's, but all the chat about the Military Orders updates had me thinking about this, and I tripped over the old theme song on YouTube: So, this series actually had "Space Knights" fighting "Space Pirates". It's just the craziest of things.
Here I am, sharing the dear memories of my childhood, and to be attacked! Nay, accosted! No, besieged! How COULD you sirs?!? How VERY could you?
@AdmiralJCJF Well this is interesting. Thanks for taking time to share this piece of your childhood with us.
Local variation on the "Chin flick" common to parts of Belgium, France and Northern Italy. Usually done with the fingers of one hand flicking outwards from underneath the chin. A more *emphatic* version of "go away", I am led to believe. Done with JUST the thumb in a flicking motion under the chin. ( I grew up in a mostly migrant area, and gestures as well as language would often be merged with those of other ethnicities. You'd have kids swearing in a mix of Greek and Italian, or Greek and Russian, or for the truly perverse, Hungarian and Italian. )
Thanks. Migrant parts of what? Yeah, I'm also missing the chin flick thing. At least I can swear in Hungarian.
It's a kind of offensive challenge, usually followed by a duel over "offended honour" (and thus usually deliberately done to draw such a response).
