[SOLVED] AP & Cover Question

    This may sound like a fairly basic question but I can't find the actual rule in the Wiki.

    When halving the ARM with AP ammo do you add the +3 from cover before or after you divide by 2?
    1. (ARM / 2) + 3
    2. (ARM + 3) / 2
    My group has always played it answer 1, but I saw it argued on facebook (in french) as option 2. I can't find the answer in the wiki to back up either point.

    I missed the word ORIGINAL before hand. Without it the rule can go either way.

    • AP Special Ammunition reduces the ARM value of its target to half of its original value, rounding up. Consequently, any ARM above 0 cannot be reduced below 1.

    Well, then there's the second bullet point which literally and clearly says that Partial Cover MOD remains unaltered...

    It drives me nuts that hacking attacks don’t have the same wording for firewalls.

    Even against an ARM 2 target in cover AP has a noticeably higher chance to succeed than shock.

    Asura shooting Wildcat with AP - 53% to wound
    Asura shooting Wildcat with Shock - 49.7% to wound

    And the benefit continues to increase with ARM value.

    Asura shooting Mobile Brigada with AP - 49.7% to wound
    Asura shooting Mobile Brigada with Shock - 42.4% to wound

    Yes, it would do more if it also reduced cover, but unless the target has ARM 0 or 1 it’s still beneficial.
