Hello my Hyperpower brothers, here i come with some not so new stuff, but given the prevalence that SoF is having on the ITS events (and casual games in general), stuff that needs to be listed for new players and experienced once that want to throw a curve ball. Panoceania got some extra tech (more CD, visors, more visual mods, Inspiring leadership) by virtue of the limitations CB put on us (lack of smoke, lack of cheap irregulars, problems with specialist variety and less than stellar hacking game), SoF takes a loooot of edge of dose limitations and throws PanO like a slingshot. This is not going to be a classical Tactica doing a review on all of the SoF units, its going to be about the different new strategies we can now do (and the enemy dont expect), stuff we already did but can do better (Avicenna, Kaplan Engenier, etc..) will not be included as the 1 swc tax makes it kind of mute. Here is hoping that CB doesn't take all this from us and takes in to account that any of this has a 1 swc tax to balance things out. Smoke + MSV 2/3 and smoke in general: We will start with the most basic, longest to to talk about and that we were asking since EVER, some smoke to use with our visors. 2 of this options come with extreme impetuous orders, something we are not used to, so take it into account and if you dont feel like giving your enemy a free shot try to have your Space pirate or Whiskey drinking werewolf in total cover with 4/6 inch to move. Remember that you dont need to throw the smoke on the enemy or on the way, sometimes throwing it over your own visor is a great way to save orders and not give an ARO to the future victim that can use for dodge to total cover. Important point: you can deploy the Yuan Yuan normally without using AD, that way you will be able to control them much better and smoke a path. VERY IMPORTANT: you dont need to use smoke just for kill, going for a panoply, console, classify objective without confrontation can save orders and ensures no bad roll or crit will ruin your day, this is basic but important to remember as we never really have the option before. Vainilla: Kamau MSR and Nisses MSR/HMG are the big winners here, they are troops you are probably taking anyway so adding the smoke is just a plus, with Joan you can also get some "cheap" orders with the YuanYuan. MO: Long range MSV2 options here are not on the same level, there is a non linkable Sgt. with Spitfire, the Black friars have a MSR and Konstantinos can be linked, all in all the smoke will probably be used most for covering movement and the YuanYuan can offset the limitation of only one Fugazzi for orders if Joan is in the list, but this is to honest of a sectorial. Acontecimiento: One lonely MSV2 in Teucer. NCA: Big winners, they got the fearsome Aquila HMG, the Friar MSR and the Deva with Spitfire with NWI, all good range options, with the possibility to get a TO infiltration unit. PanOceania ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 1 3 3 SAITO TOGAN Combi Rifle, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, EXP CCW, Knife. (0 | 39) YUAN YUAN Chain Rifle, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, AP CCW. (0 | 8) YOJIMBO Contender, Nanopulser, Smoke Grenades, CrazyKoalas (2) / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 21) McMURROUGH 2 Chain Rifles, Grenades, Smoke Grenades / Templar CCW (AP + DA). (0 | 31) 1 SWC | 99 Points Some real CC game: Whoever got a smoke grenade throw over its linkteam and saw without anything to really do how Kitsune or a Fiday kill it all with no effort, or some ninja/oni engage your TAG knows what i´m talking about. Plus you get a survivable infiltrating antimaterial cc that can cover itself with smoke, really good for some ITS 9 missions. Ass before, Acontecimiento and NCA also get a infiltration TO. PanOceania ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 1 SAITO TOGAN Combi Rifle, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, EXP CCW, Knife. (0 | 39) 1 SWC | 39 Points Holo2 suppression shuffleing: You finish your turn out of vision and in supresion, you get to put your 2 holoecho BtB (advancing one to partial cover where has line of fire with enemy units), SF breaks the Hechos, you chose the forward one to be the real one. Now you got to put a unit in suppression with line of fire to the enemy without giving an ARO, this is as dirty as it can get. We were able to do this before, but the KotHS is much to expensive to be used this way, plus Sforza gets to do it with viral ammunition. Extra points if you start to sing "Everyday I´m Shuffling" with techno sounds and all while you do it. PanOceania ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 1 SFORZA Viral Rifle + Adhesive Launcher, Nanopulser / Heavy Pistol, Electric Pulse. (0 | 25) 1 SWC | 25 Points Fast AD specialist: Before we only have two AD specialist in the form of the Akalis AHS and Kirpal, problem being they are both 4-2, the Akalis is suseptibe to hacking with no defense mechanism, Kirpal is an expencive CoC that starts out of the game, and both only have a combi. Now we get a cheap, 4-4, no hackable, SMG+e/mitter option or a BSG, NWI, Mimetism, Natural born warrior with CC 22, direct template with WIP 13, 4-4, non hackable and with F**ING dropbears (for 2 points less than Kirpal to boot). Its fair to say that they are irregular, but you will be spending orders on them, so is not that big of a deal. PanOceania ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 2 JÄGER Submachine Gun + E/Mitter / Pistol, Monofilament CC Weapon. (0.5 | 18) SPECTOR (AD: Combat Jump) Boarding Shotgun, Nanopulser, Drop Bears / Pistol, E/M2 CC Weapon. (0 | 33) 1.5 SWC | 51 Points Usable Chain of Command: We did have CoC before, but only in a unit that started out of the table (so worthless to save you from LOL the first turn) and didn't gave you much of anything else. Miss Handelman cost is the same +.5swc, but she starts first turn in with 4-4 to relocate, has mimetism for survival, is ALSO FO to cover more classified objectives, can bully LI AND HI/TAG/Rem with a granade launcher with normal and e/m ammunition, both last points compounded with a Xvisor.... what else do you want?!!! really!!! what??!!! She even has V:Dogged if you want to send her on offense and can clean camos with a nanopulser and a wip 14, so here, just use the S**T out of her. Ever wanted to use a Squalo Lt. without loading on Bolts? now you can, its swc expensive so you may want to put some other merc in, but you can. PanOceania ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 1 EMILY (Chain of Command) Combi Rifle + Light Grenade Launcher (Normal and E/M), Nanopulser / Assault Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 35) 1.5 SWC | 35 Points Joan, or how some call her "Juana la loca" (only for MO and Vainilla): You get a +1swc to compensate for the SoF tax and you can put 3 warcores in your list (1 normal and 2 mercs) if you remember to actually add them from each profile. Is you can design a unit to use in SoF, she is it, you could say that this is her own little sectorial. PanOceania ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 1 4 JOAN OF ARC Lieutenant MULTI Rifle, Nanopulser / Pistol, AP CCW. (+1 | 49) WARCOR (Aerocam) Flash Pulse / Stun Pistol, Knife. (0 | 3) WARCOR (Aerocam) Flash Pulse / Stun Pistol, Knife. (0 | 3) WARCOR (Aerocam) Flash Pulse / Stun Pistol, Knife. (0 | 3) TECH-BEE (Remote Assistant Level 1, Specialist Operative) Flash Pulse / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 5) 1 SWC | 63 Points WHITE F***ING NOISE!!!: We can now have a Bulleteer, an already wonderful killing machine that can only get screwed by MSV2, and because white noise is on the Hacker Hacking Zone it covers around the REM but without going into feedback with the ODD, it takes dirty to a new level. PanOceania ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 2 UHAHU Hacker (Hacking Device Plus. UPGRADE: Icebreaker) Pitcher, D-Charges / Assault Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 25) BULLETEER Spitfire / Electric Pulse. (1 | 23) 2.5 SWC | 48 Points
Great writeup! These are all really awesome. In an upcoming local tournament, we are doing an escalation tournament (200,300,400pt) with SoF and Limited Insertion as bonus rules. Would you say that SoF is worth it for a limited insertion-type game?
To be fair I'm pretty sure it's just the Joan bullshittery, I think the rest of it people are relatively okay with
it´s true what @Spleen says, most people only saw the Joan and the smoke aspects, so go SoF in a casual game and surprise the sh*t out of them!! Sorry dude, not a SAA player so didnt remembered about the Aleph loan, going to correct in the original, thanks for the heads up Its pretty SWC heavy, but if you go whit Joan you can offset that and take care of the orders and bring some heavy hitters at the same time, if you go with a sectoreal maybe its going to be difficult at 200.
(did some editing because of how poorly written it was, given that it was done during lunchtime at work and english is my third language i appreciate any corrections you guys can help me with)
Wait, if you activate white noise, it flares up all your repeaters as well?! Sure about this? You can add all the yuan yuans to Joan’s merry band of irregulars as well.
Positive, i cheked a couple of times in Army6 to be sure, White Noise is Hacking Area and Repeaters broaden it. For reference: http://infinitythewiki.com/en/White_Noise http://wiki.infinitythegame.com/en/Repeater
coming from bakunin HD+, yes, White Noise is a hacking program so you can place the template within your ZoC or your Repeater ZoC.
So you still get only one template, but you can put it on your repeaters as well. I thought all your repeaters and the hacker each get the template :)
Interesting, on careful reading With Noise doesn't convert your Hacking Area to a Zero Visibility Zone for MSV, but allows you to place one circular template completely inside the Hacking Area. Same Trick, just cant do it with 2 Bulletters in tandem using only one order.
spleen is one of my locals....and its not like Joan givine 5 orders for 70 odds points is anyworse than wallace giving it for half that cost
88 for who? Joan does Her, 3 Warcors and a tech be for 63 and 1 SWC Wallace does him, warcor and 4 Gals for 62 0SWC Without SOF and realistically given I know how to use them with twice the orders due to extremely impetuous. Given the pain that is a Grey+Vol core I fail to see how allowing PanO to fuel a Jotum or something that is inherently more expensive than said grey to be all that game breaking
@Spleen , in my corner of the galaxy what happen here ask for a game, with Joan+orders and all the MSV2 and TO he cant handle. The glove has been thrown by the Atek, are you going to pick it up for the glory and honor of the Hyperpower??!! (love when the games get some spice hahahahaha)
the difference is that for 60 points and 0 swc you could have just taken 10 chain vols in CHA getting the same number of orders without any impetuous restrictions. for cha having access to cheap orders is a design feature as are their. drawbacks Pan O was never meant to play like that so when a game mode suddenly unlocks 3 point regular orders for them it's janky
you say they were not meant to play like that, but they already have 2 of them. Warcors+Techbee is not that janky and its halfway there already. the faction also has surprisingly high AVA on flash bots at 8 pts with AVA2-3 in most lists
Considering I have Saito Togan and Yojimbo soon, I may have to give them a spin in vanilla to take a break from JSA. That said, finally glad to be back a bit. :p
