I've been posed the question what happens to a smoke's coverage if it's close to a door and someone opens the door, and about 10 minutes searching has yielded nothing*. Now, I come across a rule I haven't noticed before which is that access points are considered open now, unless the scenario changes this. But even so; How does smoke in for example The Armory work? Does the ZVZ stop at the door? Does the smoke apply inside the door when the door is opened? Does smoke actually not care about walls at all and will cover the inside of The Armory even before the doors are opened? * In my defence, it's late and I should be trying to sleep already...
From the Smoke Ammunition Rules in the Wiki's "IMPORTANT" box: Template Weapons and their Area of Effect are affected by Scenery Elements. Smoke Templates, as their Area of Effect have infinite height, form a cylinder that will be affected by scenery elements. The Area of Effect will be cut horizontally and vertically by such scenery elements (see the example). https://infinitythewiki.com/Smoke_Ammunition You place the template on the board and the template remains till removed end of the Player turn. The template while on the board interacts with scenery from its blast focus during the turn and that's generating the Zero Vis Zone. As a result that would mean changes to scenery after the Smoke is initially generated, i.e. closing/opening doors from your example do change the Zero Vis Zone if there are parts of the template that get cut off or accessible from the Blast Focus.
Ah right, that makes sense and seems consistent. I couldn't find how it worked on the horizontal plane, only the vertical :)
