Does shock only affect troopers with vita 1 or does it also affect troopers with vita 2 but has taken a wound? Asking because it came up in our game today. 2 wounds troops have the shock immune skill, which would suggest that if they don't have this skill, and already down 1 wound, then they'd be affected by shock ammo. I was arguing against this but the way the rule is worded can be interpreted either way.
The Shock trait applies to models with Vita attribute, specifically those with Vita attribute of 1. It therefore doesn't apply to those with Str attribute, nor those with Vita greater than 1. Models who suffer Wounds can suffer as many wounds as their Vita or Str attribute before they fall Unconscious, but it doesn't mean the attribute itself is being lowered. Shock never affected 2 W models in the previous editions (even if Bostria once famously played it othervise in a demo on youtube :P - Icestorm era).
Most 2 VITA troopers come with Immunity (Shock), so this does not apply. They enter unconscious state as normal. But, if a 2 vita trooper does not have Immunity (shock), then yes, it would enter dead state when it recieves a second wound.
Shock ammunition also cancels NWI and Dogged state because they are unconscious states with special rules.
Actually the first question should be - are there models with 2 Vita and no Shock Immunity? Because if not, then it becomes a purely academical discussion...
Having Immunity (ARM) DO cover 99% of the Shock weapons. Alas, Bioweapons still go through, being BTS based DA+Shock Edit: Also Cameronian, Wulver, and probably something more
Incorrect if you have VITA 2 Shock does not apply as per the rules. The Immunity(Shock) skill on any VITA 2 troopers was left as a reminder by CB and is going to be removed.
The VITA attribute and Wounds are two completely different things. Taking a Wound doesn't diminish your VITA.
I think it would help if it was like this. If the target has the VITA Attribute in their stat-line, with a value of 1, any failed Saving Rolls against Shock Ammunition will also cancel any type of Unconscious State the target is in, or has entered during this Order, and the target passes directly to Dead State.
Yes - multi-Vita (multi-Wound) Troopers are affected by Shock Ammunition, but Shock only bypasses the Unconscious State when the model loses its last point of VITA. Here’s the breakdown: When a Trooper with more than 1 VITA fails a Saving Roll against Shock, they lose 1 VITA as normal. If they still have at least 1 VITA remaining, they stay on the table and continue to function normally. Only when a Shock hit causes the Trooper to lose their final point of VITA (i.e., when they would normally enter the Unconscious State) does Shock apply its special effect: they skip Unconscious and go directly to Dead State. So: A 1-VITA Line Infantryman hit by Shock = instantly Dead. A 2-VITA Heavy Infantry hit once by Shock = loses 1 VITA, remains active. The same Heavy Infantry hit by Shock again (now at 1 VITA left) = goes straight to Dead (no Unconscious). The only models completely immune to this effect are those with Immunity (Shock).
