Usually I would flounder my way through a new sectorial on the table, but since games are shut down, I was hoping for some help with some decent all rounder ITS army lists for Shasvastii for a painter that wants to start putting a lot of time into a new army without really understanding what the units can do on the table. Appreciate any ideas or direction. Doesn't have to be super competitive, just generally regarded as decent. I've already painted the wildfire box, and the Sphinx, if that helps.
I've not managed to get going with my Shas yet due to covid, but over the last few weeks I've been going over lists and how they'd work. Very interestiong sectorial, one where it looks like the advice is leave the core team at home. A good start for all factions is getting some cheerleaders/essentials done and with Shas I believe that comes in the shape of 1. R-Drone 2. Ikadron Batroids 3. Med-Tech Obsidion Medchanoid (Dr. Worm) R-Drone & 2 x Batroids gives you 3 Regular orders for 25 points. Shas don't seem very pricey so that's about as far as I would go for spam, and these three can be nice little speed bumps for you enemy. I've used Dr for years with Onyx, one of my fave dudes in that sectorial so I can only presume he's just as important in Shasvastii as well, but he might not be, still a solid pick as the price point with 2 slave drones. Next I'd personally consider the Taighas. I've been shown some lists that have a 9-6 order pool, with three Taighas in the 6, so you can whack a total of 7 orders into one Taigha. Then I'd probably suggest also getting the Speculo, as we get a mine layer version in the sectorial that you can't get in Vanilla. Then if not of this works and you hate Shas you have a good start on Vanilla/Onyx
I’d also suggest the Seed Soldier as it’s a cheap troop I often end up dropping in to get the points right at the end of list building.
The seed is interesting right, because at 16 points he's competing with three versions of specialists. M-Drone, Nox & Tensho. But then the Grenade Launcher + Forward deployment +8" is tasty, and he starts the game off like a tough mine. I like the idea of trying to play with 2-3 of these guys.
Second the Ikadrons, Noctifer, Speculo. Hard for me not to want to include them every Shas game...but so many other models! N3 I'd been running a core of Nox with Sheskin with decent success.
Thanks for the replies everyone, I appreciate it. I actually have a pretty big CA army alreadey, so I have two Ikadrons and a Dr. Worm and two Nurse Worms already painted, I'm ahead of the game! I'll put a Speculo and Noctifier on the paint table. I was going to ask about Sheskiin, and the Haiduk, as well as the Nox box as places to go next. It really is incredible how many Shas have been released recently. Also, any opinion on the Jayth? I have Defiance too if that helps the discussion.
Sheskiin is an absolute beast! The nox sculpts are nice but with Defiance you don't actually need it. The jayth are gorgeous sculpts but it's questionable if you bring them to the table in a regular basis. I will definitely do so just because I like the sculpts. The haiduk is the only source of msv2 in shas. The sculpt is suboptimal in my opinion. I switched the pistol for the sniperrifle. he holds it like a pistol, but still better than a pistol.
I think Dr Worm is a trap in Shasvastii. There isn’t much benefit to a doctor in the sectorial. Sheskiin is the only thing you’d consider healing and she wants to go deep in the table. The other trooper with wounds that you want to field either have regen, dogged or like will also be too deep in the table for it to be worth. And if you want an Engineer, you have access to the Caliban (which has a very low opportunity cost to be upgraded to an engineer) and is a very valuable piece you want anyway.
Yea, I was skeptical with him, I suppose you're looking at almost 1/10th of the army in that guy. What I would say is that he has sucha. target on his back he's a great trap for your hidden units.
Right, but there is no miniature for him. A damn shame! That shows I am not playing enough. Thanks covid!
I modded my second Gwaillo with the (extra) T-drone weapon from a remotes box, though it's a ML. It's a front-heavy looking weapon but that Gwaillo is strong enough to carry it...
