So a scout has both an E/Mauler and Marksmanship Level 1. Marksmanship Level 1 grants Shock special ammo type to any BS Attacks. E/Maulers can be used as a Direct Template attack. Does the e/mauler when used in this manner gain the shock special ammo type, and then force the target to make both a BTS AND Normal armor save to avoid isolation/immobile AND losing a wound/str? On a related note, when did scouts get Marksmanship L1?
They've had it since N3 came out. The Mine/EMauler is the one making the attack, the Scout's skills have no effect on it.
The E/Mauler skill entry is completely god awful in formatting, but the first bullet point: E/Maulers work exactly like Anti-Personnel Mines, with the following exceptions: They made the poor choice of having the skill, the deployable item, and the weapon used by the deployable item, all called the same thing. In other words, no, a trooper with the E/Mauler cannot fire it as a direct template weapon. An E/Mauler fires itself the same way an Anti-Personnel Mine does, and it’s listed as Intuitive Attack for the same reasons.
E/Mauler -- -- -- -- 13 1 E/M Concealed, Deployable, Direct Template (Small Teardrop), Disposable (3), Intuitive Attack Since the e/ mauler has intuitive attack could not the scout use it as an intuitive attack ? And then would it not gain shock as he is using it as a weapon and not a deployed e/mauler
Please read the reply by @solkan E/Mauler is a Deployable Weapon. Using it places a mine. Intuitive Attack is there so that you can place the mine with only camouflaged enemies in the trigger area. As has been answered before, the mine itself has no relationship to the model that placed it.
Mines and Intuitive Attacks This weapon allows the user to make Intuitive Attacks: by passing a WIP Roll, you can lay a Mine even if an enemy Camouflage and Hiding Marker is inside the Trigger Area.
