Since windows and doors are no longer really pieces of terrain and have no rules outside of being Gates, what do you mean by "enclosed" in the case of Guided Ballistic attacks? Since LoF is irrelevant for guided how is a trajectory determined? Additionally, if nothing can be enclosed would it not be better to state that the attack can happen regardless of intervening terrain?

Some special rules or scenario conditions can have gates start closed, in this situation it is possible to have a fully enclosed room.

The issue is that the definition of enclosed varies. You can enclose a patio with a screen and it has a door. Even if that door is open it's an enclosed patio.

They need to clarify or this is extremely subjective.

If the door is open it is, by definition, no longer fully enclosed.

"Enclosed Room means an area with a wall on all sides reaching from floor to ceiling, exclusive of windows and doors, and does not include an area completely or partially open to the outside air such as a roofed shelter."

"Enclosed area means all space between a floor and ceiling that is contained on all sides by solid walls or windows, exclusive of doorways, which extend from the floor to the ceiling."

I think we'll stick with the legal definitions until otherwise stated by CB. Since a field with a fence is also meets the definition of enclosed.

Which is why the rule states fully enclosed.

I don't know, doesn't really seem like an issue to me, but I am looking at it with a couple editions worth of experience.

Unfortunately, the rule say nothing about fully enclosed for BS (Guided).

is the bullet point for it.

Decide between you and your opponent before the beginning of a game.

For example, on one of my Brutal Cities tables, I specifically have one building that has no windows and only a single door which is opened like a Star Trek door. If you put your Lt in there for example, the room is fully enclosed and you therefore CANNOT be targeted by spec or guided, UNLESS someone is standing in the doorway to prop it open.

It's really up to the person who designed the table, and you and your opponent before the beginning of a game.

Why do you post a question on the forum and then ignore everyone who knows better telling you what the authors have meant? The rules developers haven’t changed, and they’ve been consistent about what they meant for this.

Maybe because the letter of the rule is what matters and CB needs to define terms for consistency? Maybe because there are no "enclosed" rooms in the game that a model can actually be in so it's a pointless detail if terrain other than the armory can't be "enclosed"?

Maybe because nobody that responded is a developer so it's just some randos?

You're welcome to hold your breath until you turn blue, but you should really keep in mind
Please understand that you are currently experiencing a self-inflicted problem.

Is there a sensible definition of "enclosed"? Yes, there is.
Have you posted previously in this thread that you're going to ignore that sensible definition and do whatever you want, even if it makes your own games worse? Yes, you have.

Try not to hurt yourself while you're playing the game.

You know that the people above are stating no room is enclosed right? And that because of that guided missiles can hit anywhere on the map?

I'm not sure how using enclosed as described in common speech makes that worse by limiting where guided and speculative can hit.

And if we shouldn't expect CB to clarify rules because they won't, well I guess they are somehow worse than GW in that respect.

Being obtuse to the obvious to try to gain a rules advantage: a forum tradition!

Oh yes, this forum has many traditions.

Treating newbies with disdain and veterans making up answers to some rules questions are also some of them.

And it would nice to be a tradition that could stop.

Treating newbies with disdain does indeed need to stop. Unfortunate part of internet culture in general, and at least this forum is better about it than others. We can do better still.

We do a pretty good job of spotting veterans just making stuff up and correcting those distortions, though. Present thread is a good example.
