"When a miniature changes silhouette size, such as a Silhouette 2 Sniper becoming a Silhouette 3 foxhole, the enemy doesn't gain an ARO as a result of her change in shape." Why does this not generate an ARO? My thought is because This: "A trooper owned by the Reactive Player can declare an ARO if any of the following is true: It has Line of Fire (LoF) to a trooper being activated by the Active Player." As no Action was Performed in LOS... no ARO can happen From this thread under Light Infantry: Sappers https://forum.corvusbelli.com/threads/the-shock-army-of-acontecimento-a-tactica.22582/ "Remember as well that you can change the location of your foxhole throughout the game. Need to redeploy? No problem, though digging a new foxhole will cost you an Order. Note though that you can prepare your foxholes before you engage a target. When a miniature changes silhouette size, such as a Silhouette 2 Sniper becoming a Silhouette 3 foxhole, the enemy doesn't gain an ARO as a result of her change in shape. This means thatyou can run up to a corner, still hiding from the enemy, then dig your Foxhole. With the change of silhouette size, you can use this to gain Line of Fire to your enemy, andthey won't be able to hit you with anunopposed shot. From there, with Partial Cover and Mimetism, you can spend a fresh Order to engage your target."
So does this apply to all size changes as well like embarking disembarking a tag, mounting dismounting a bike etc etc Only precidence i can find is these with changing sizes and common rule for those is that you must use the new profile for entire order so in this case would be considered size 3 when order was declared. If not the case why not a consistant rule set across all?
Dismounting and mounting a tag are different. Ypu only activate the profile that is moving. So an dismounting pilot never procs an aro to the tag because the pilot profile is the active one
You don't get an ARO as a result of the silhouette changing, for example the silhouette sticking out around a corner. You do get an ARO though whenever a trooper is activated with an order in your line of sight. So if you saw the enemy trooper when it is activated with the Sapper skill, you definitely get an ARO.
I think technically it’s important to point out that mounting and dismounting TAGs (or motorcycles, because they have the same issues) has a retroactive component to it because you’re switching what was considered activated by the order. That’s the situation constructed by the two FAQ entries for Mount/Dismount: Q: When Mounting or Dismounting, which profile is activated? A: The new Troop Profile is the one that is activated for the entire Order sequence. The other profile does not count as having been activated. Q: When can you Mount or Dismount a troop? A: When declaring Move as the first Short Skill of an Order, at the beginning of its movement, a troop can Mount or Dismount. That does mean that a pilot can sometimes dismount a pilot and the TAG may block enemy line of sight (even though it won’t count as scenery for cover). But, more relevant to the original question, keep in mind that the foxhole activation is subject to the HSN3 rules on silhouette changes: http://infinitythewiki.com/en/Models_and_Markers_Replacement So there are constants to where you put the new S3 base under your S2 trooper.
