Ahoy mateys! I'm returning to the true faith of Haqqislam after a long period of ahem ''contemplation'' and, welp, I'm a bit lost.
I have the old starters for vanilla and QK and with the Az'rail models gone, which I intended to buy before my leave, I'm not really sure now what should I get.
Is the new hassasin starter worth it with what I have? I've tried some of the profiles when I first started playing and loved the daylami and the muyib, also the ayyar profile looks interesting.

Well that's it for now, thanks in advance folks, cheers.

Ahoy, good to have you back in the best Infinity's army ;)

To be honest I think that what you use can be a bit subjective, depending on playstyle et cetera. For me the staple untis of Vanilla Haqq are Saladin, Kasym, Lasiq, Hunzakut, Djanbazan - to only name a few. Haqqislam always had many great soldiers, and now has even more of them - we got great Mukhtars and Nahabs for example. The list you use also depends on the missions you play.
Still I think that Hassassin starter is a nice set. Daylamis are one of the best ARO pieces thanks to being totally expendable and very dangerous. Farzan is very good as a specialist and can be your chain of command. I rarely use Muyib now, but he has his perks.
And Ayyar - great fighter and also can help you in clicking scenarios.

So yes, you can go with new Bahram set :)
Maybe try to build some armylists and then see what you're creating.

Thanks for the awesome answer! Yeah I've been building some lists with what I have and the HB starter and looks good, tons of LI as I like with solid specialists.
Always loved the Saladino model, is that useful? Always heard people say he's the best Lt in the game.

    Cheers folks!

    Saladin is the best.

My favourite Vanilla LT for 250pts and more. I use him in most of my armylists in bigger tournaments, only sometimes changing for Tarik LT if I needed a more shooty, Datatracker LT.
About Saladin - he cooperates great with our Hassassins, leaving 2 soldiers in reserve and cancelling the reserve of enemy. The combination of Saladin plus Fidays is so terrifying, that it works even, when you don't have a Fiday :D True story ;)
Many people seeing Haqq with Sal and 2 reserves deploy dramatically defensively being afraid of Fidays, and then you have it easier to go for the scenario objectives.

Saladin also helps winning the initiative with his very high WiP, so you can take the most of forementioned Hassassins or to have the better situation in scenarios ;) And he is rather tough, can even take a fight if there's a need for that. And can be hidden in a mix of Hafzas for example. Good thing is to have a Farzan CoC to be sure (and it fits the fluff nicely, to have a Hassassin watching the back of Sal ;) ). Yet I usually didn't use CoC with Sal and TBH lost him only couple of times in several dozen of battles.

So if you have the old QK starter (with 3 Hafzas), old vanilla set (with Hunza) and wanting the new Hassassin Starter (with Farzan) I think that Saladin would fit well into this mix. You could use Hafza to hide Saladin, then use 2 reserves to put Farzan and Hunza in some good positions after the enemy had deployed.
You can even be silly and funny and deploy 7 Saladins to mess with the enemy :D
Ayyar can work as 3 Saladins, then 3 Hafzas, then the true one and only ;) It's a joke, obviously, but shows how good Haqq is with mind games ;)

Obviously, don't forget to buy 6 spare Saladin minis for that :P
