Hi, Throwing E/M Grenades as Speculative Attack into TAG inside ZoC. TAG declare Reset as ARO. (with no states) The ttooper hit a TAG. If TAG successfully Reset then he also cancel any new states added in this order (Isolation and Imm-B)? Is this by any chance a FtF roll?
https://infinitythewiki.com/Trooper_Activation#Order_Expenditure_Sequence Specifically: At step 6, you roll the Speculative Attack and the Reset, which are both normal rolls. At step 6.1 you apply the Reset (if succesfull) and do the BTS roll. If you fail the BTS, then I *think* (stongly) you apply the E/M effects that will remain. Please notice that there is FAQ in said page indicating that if the order of declaration of a skill is relevant, the Active Player decides. I *think* this can be applied to all the stuff that happens in the same steps of the Order Resolution (like in the situation you ask for, in which the Active player would choose to apply the succesfull Reset effect, then the BTS/2 roll, then the IMM and Isolated states from E/M ammo). Bottom line, best to dodge incoming proyectiles.
I don't think there's been an official answer, but the community accepted gold standard seems to be that you have to determine what states you can reset against, and only remove states that you were affected by, when you determined MODs. Keep in mind that Isolated comes with a -9 MOD to Reset, and applying the effects of the new Isolated state after MODs have been determined and rolled, only so that you can affect the cancellation clauses, seem very odd. Edit. Finished a sentence without typing parts of it... Sigh...
Thank you. I will play to a community accepted standard as otherwise I would do a normal reset to -12 (IMM-B + isolation) before these states are applied to the soldier.
