looking at the regulars and Bagh Mari had mk2 sculpts along with their dragoon TAG appeared to be recent designs compared to panO's catalog remaining mk1 hand sculpts.
It was discontinued because Varuna got released and they wanted to keep the number of sectorials - and SKUs - in production in check, and Acon was less popular than the other two sectorials. SWF's release probably means that another sectorial will get this treatment, probably Neoterra.
"less popular than the other two sectorials"...didn't even get a year or two to see how that played out. Hell, they barely did more than just the Bagh-Mari and starter set. Additionally, they have said that NCA is getting this treatment. But the writing has been on the wall for ages, they never even bothered with a full resculpted starter in the first place.
thanks, still feels like a waste of resources upgrading their sculpts just to do a limited run. fun fact: though you cant find the new sculpts on ebay, the OG mk1 models still have a large supply....
That is true. I was thinking about getting another copy of the starter to get more Regulars, but apparently I'll have to use Fusiliers for now and maybe get a new starter when we'll get it. On a side note, since NCA will get shelved too it'd be good to get Tikbalang/Uhlan box while we can. Which has little or nothing to do with discontinuing sectorial's production, that starter was released too long ago for this to have any connection. And later there was a Swiss resculpt in Beyond Icestorm anyway. NCA starter was just them being teribly lazy, I guess.
And the Swiss resculpt in Beyond was specifically not the profile from the NCA starter. Frankly, the starter having been released that long ago has quite a bit to do with the connection IMO. It was released not long before N3, but no attempt was made to revitalize key models from the NCA range. We never saw resculpted Auxilia, we never saw resculpted Swiss Guard until Beyond Icestorm(and even then it was the HMG and seemed to miss the point of the shooty unit in favor of a Totally Not a Knight model), never saw new Hexas, etc. We saw the Uhlan tossed in with the brick in the box that was the Tikbalang, we saw the Squalo, we saw resculpted Fusiliers(locked in the starter set), resculpted ORC locked in the starter set(with no future ORCs until Varuna), and a single resculpted Aquila Guard(with a Panzerfaust that was Totally Never Intended To Be A Panzerfaust, Honest Guys). And I doubt the Uhlan will go away, it'll probably just get shoved into Varuna or some stupid shit like the Tikbalang got jacked by the derpers in tabards because they can't figure out proper robes Knights.
already did along with the complete op:icestorm and beyond + Jeane de arc mobility XD plus got another stingray in the defiance set
Working under the assumption that something had to go, SAA is the mechanically closest to Varuna. All the Aleph stuff in there probably didn't help their Sales, combined with the fact that their most useful sculpts all were pretty up to date. Not much left to release and make a profitable new sculpt for, except maybe the GDA. I have a full SAA army and it's really all CAD sculpts. Was mechanically and economically sound to retire them. You can still get most sculpts you need, and the OOP ones can very easily be replaced with Kamau, Orcs and Fusiliers (if you can't just still find them online). Makes me wonder if Foxhole State will survive N4. Fun fact - in retrospect no resculpt for the NCA Starter might have been or purpose. At least the Aquila, no more Multirifle in C1, yet the Multirifle is still very much a thing. Also Specialist Operative on the new AP MMR, sooo....
That's applying a reasoning to it that might not actually have existed at the time. When the box dropped, they locked Bolts away in it with older sculpts that most places still had sitting on the racks.
When the box dropped they released the Bolts as a limited time triple blister for those that already had the other contents.
Yes, and at the same time they dropped all the other contents for the box as individual SKUs months prior.
